Re: Could the tide be turning
Finally watched that Estranged video. Cinematography is great, band is great, Axl is terrible.
Sorry, I liked the Rio IV performance ALOT better.
And as for drummers, Frank is the best drummer they've had since Steven. Love his work on CD the song, and the AFD songs sound ALOT better with him than Brain.
I love Brain's work with Buckethead, but I never understood the fan fare with him with Guns, yet the total disrespect for Matt Sorum. They were basically the same guy in my eyes, with Sorum actually being slightly better.

Yeah Matt us a bad ass drummer...I think because people dislike his personality they minimise him. But his drumming on all the UYI tracks is great. Not as sold on his AFD covers...I think his brownstone never had the right vibe either...
Brain is bad ass on drums, but not sure it worked in GNR, I really strugle to forgive the YCBM incident at RIR3.
Frank seems to be a good blend of the styles. Captures some of what Adler had going...but seems able to handle a lot of the other stuff too...can't say I had any complaints on the live shows I saw with him.

Incidently brownstone is one of those songs that's so fun to play on guitar...like you can be sick of the studio track and then pick up a guiitar and bust out that riff on a marshal stack and it's just gold.

Yep, that riff kicks ass. I should really learn the rest of the song, but THAT riff I agree is so much fun to play!:mosh:
