This video documents one of those moments that is hardly believable for some, that he's a joking, great guy. Some other videos docements the utter asshole. He can be a different person on a daily basis. You'll never know who'll you meet, Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde.
I believe Axl said in the chats that he was NOT bipolar.
Well, everything he does points to that. Since he's into new age shit, he could also easily deny that this world exist.
Only a fool would diagnose people from watching YouTube, Doctor.
Re: Cool/Candid Axl Video
Actually Axl Rose himself said in 1992 that he was MANIC DEPRESSIVE.
In 1992 that was the current medical term for.... you guessed it - Bi-Polar Disorder.
They're the same thing. And Axl has contradicted himself again (in the chats).
So before you bag on Mikka, bag on Axl first. He's the one that started the fuckin' rumor himself.

Only a fool would think that being a fan for 20+ years and following the guy's actions all through the decades isn't enough to make a valid opinion. I hate this 'you have never met him, so you don't know shit about him' stupid lie. Historians make portraits of long dead people from a different age with less knowledge than I have about Axl. So either find something to back your opinion or shut up.

Re: Cool/Candid Axl Video
I think Axl comes across as a tool in this video and I dont see the underlying affection to Slash that some are claiming.
If anything, there is a clear underlying bitterness and belittling element to Axl's remarks (although i'm sure theyre true).
I do find it strange that he brings this up with total strangers mind. For a guy who claims hes moved on and wants nothing to do with this 'cancer', he sure goes on about him alot.

Why would I bag on Axl? He's not here is he? So what if he put out an emo rumour 20 years ago to cover whatever shit he was going thru, diagnosing people u don't know is still gay and it will always be gay, Axl diagnosing himself is just as stupid too, it's not like I'm trying to cover for him.
So either find something to back your opinion or shut up.
Oh that's quite easy. It's called medical school. I don't have it. Do you? Axl certainly doesn't have it either.

Well it's tough to gauge the context of the interaction out of the 1:20 minute clip. I'm sure Axl didn't track down some fans to tell them a random story about Slash.
As Buzz said, it's not WHAT he said but how he said it. The story itself doesn't paint Slash in a positive light, but it doesn't seem there are any ill intentions behind it. At least from what we saw. Who knows what preceded the story. If he intro'd the story by saying, "let me tell you what a f'ing loser Slash is", then I'd have a different outlook. But we can only comment on what we saw.

No doctor would ever attempt to diagnose someone they've never met. And, yes, I've had this discussion with people in the field of psychiatry.
Being a fan is not the same thing as knowing someone. Following SOME of a person's actions, especially those only limited to the public arena through the filter of someone's profession, isn't the same thing as witnessing their actions first hand on a day to day basis.
I think it is foolish to confuse being a fan for being a friend or even acquaintance, and following a limited number and scope of someone's actions for following a significant number number of someone's actions without any scope limitations.

Re: Cool/Candid Axl Video
Actually I thought Axl said in the 1990s that it's been questioned if he was manic depressive by some, but he doesn't think it's a correct diagnosis, and that he found that lithum doesn't work for his troubles.
That's my memory of it.
Not trying to nitpick - just you have to be very careful with the way Axl chooses his words - the impression I got wasn't that he was claiming he really is manic depressive (bi-polar).
I had an ex-girlfriend that had Borderline Personality Disorder, and in working out how to best deal with that and help her I read a few books about it, and I must say elements of that illness really reminded me of some of what we know of Axl. Apparently it's much more common in women than men though, but after reading that book I'd be more likely to stamp an illness like that on him over bio-polar illness if I was going to armchair diagonse at all. But i do think we don't have enough knowledge of what he is like in his private life to really know.
Also for the record, I don't much care what's "wrong" with him - other than I feel sorry for him that he appears to experience a lot of anguish at times (I interpret anger as sadness/frustration gone bad)- but I do think he writes beautiful songs. Just saying - like even if we could prove he had a mental illness - so what really - just shows that people with mental illness can still achieve great things in their lives - and if anything it would mean the fan base could cut him a little more slack in terms of being critical.

I have read as well that Borderline Personality Disorder is more common in women than in men, and it is often misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder.

Re: Cool/Candid Axl Video
As someone else mentioned, Axl seems to have already had a few when telling the story. I took it as just telling a funny story, because while ribbing Slash for pissing himself, which is a widely known fact, he also is being self-deprecating by saying Slash actually got hot chicks that Axl would have to wait on to see if Slash passed out. I'm actually stunned by this video and the comfort Axl is talking about Slash with. It's a cool clip.
