Another thing about this incarnation of GnR. When I'm bored and in the mood to chill out. I put on the 06 pro shot rock am ring footage and kick back.
I don't put on Tokyo 91 or listen to that god awful live album.
I want to see Axl with Tommy n Bumble and hear them do CD songs.

They gave up in once sense. They gave up expecting anything. Most won't see that as giving up, but it is.
I completely agree with this. Despite my positive post, this is pretty much the formula I used to compute it up and come out to "the bottom line".

I beleive there will be a new album.
To me it's like the CD plan from 2006 or thereabouts is still operational just running 5 years behind or so.

Axl in a lot of ways reminds me of those outgoing loud athletes. Rodman, Randy Moss, T.O. Ocho Cinco etc... Those antics are overlooked when u are the best in the world and are kicking ass and on top... Once u slide and are no longer on top.. They become a nuisance and u usually get kicked off the team.
I like that Axl still is "Rock N Roll" but its harder today to get away with the same shit he got away with 20 years ago when GNR were the greatest band on earth.

Since I am a little older that some of you, I will say that my biggest Gnr let downs occurred in 94-95-96. It killed me that they couldn't follow up the Illusions. I went to a bunch of UYI shows. By 1993, I was aching for a new song....bored to death with UYI. So, after 20 years of mostly disappointment, now isn't too bad. I don't expect too much and take what I can get.

One of the biggest WOW moments for me when i think about it is.. I was 12 years old when UYI came out... I woulda never believed I'd be almost 30 before I got another new album That is absolutely frightening in some aspects. What the fuck exactly did Axl do??? Did he just live as a normal human? Wonder what his day to day was like? If He'd only release a book one of these days.

Yeah..That's the "bottom line" to me actually: Axl for all his talents is just a normal human and he does what he can. Sometimes he's a good guy, sometimes he's a jerk.
Petty much the same as all of us i'd guess, only Axl's sucessess and failures as a dude are on a much grander and more public scale.
On one hand I feel what you guys mean - it's sad that all the potential GNR tracks that could have existed don't - but on the other hand I look at it more from a philosophical point of view - each of us does what we can in life - no more and no less.
Would I like Axl to leave us even more? Sure thing. But I'll always be grateful for what he's done already, as it sure made an impact on my own little life at the opposite end of the world.
