Re: Spaghetti Incident
Olorin, I agree, its awesome, and you can REALLY hear Duff's bass on some tracks. And, Sorum's drumming is much better than on Illusions, he is got some killer fills going on, even thought I heard some double bass in some spots. "I don't care about you" is just soooo bad ass, Axl sounds like a totally different dude, and even more badass than normal! Many, many good tunes.

Loving the Love for TSI....
I've always thought the sound mix was great too - you can really hear the improvments in technology since the illusions.
Favourtie Tracks:
Hair of the Dog - classic Axl attitude on this one.
Aint it Fun - amazing slash sound, every note is a gem.
Down on the Farm - simple track but damn it rocks.
Since I don't have you - I love Axl's voice on this. Fucking amazing.
Human Being - great all around song. axl is a little drowned out on this but his vocals are killer.
Black Leather - amazing guitars - love the way slash drives the rhythm parts.

Re: Spaghetti Incident
Great, fun rock album to crank up LOUD.
Don't know why it copped as much flack as it did when it was released, there are songs on there that sound as good as any GN'R originals, especially tracks like Ain't It fun, Hair of the Dog, Down on The Farm.
I love the punk numbers sung by Duff N' Axl too, Raw Power and New Rose kick ass.
Re: Spaghetti Incident
I also have always thought for years that TSI was the best mixed GN'R album of them all. The sound is absolutely amazing, and to this day throws you back in your seat. It's damn near perfect, at least for GN'R standards.
I think the album was poorly received because it was a covers album at the height of their popularity (I think some probably thought an EP of new trx or Unplugged appeareance made more sense), and the fact that the songs they covered were so obscure.
I think that's what the band was going for. Songs off the beaten path. Ever hear the NY Dolls version of Human Being? It frankly sucks in comparison to the GN'R version. I think that's what the band was going for, but I think if they were going to do a covers album, people wanted to hear GN'R doing covers of what they had been playing live like Dead Flowers, Communication Breakdown, Imagine, Pinball Wizard, Sail Away Sweet Sister, etc.
I don't think it helped following it up with a single release of Sympathy For The Devil. I might've been young, but even I remember the jokes then talking about how Guns N' Roses were the greatest cover band in the world. That's all they seemed to be doing for a couple years.
Re: Spaghetti Incident
Since we are talking about TSI? thought I would throw this in for those that never found out what it meant. Remember these symbols on the cover of the album, down the bottom:
Sometime ago someone on mygnr deciphed what they actually mean. I quote from his post:
After taking a look at the actual cypher the Zodiac Killer sent to the San Fransisco PD back in the sixties, I'm convinced Axl used his code as a sly message on the TSI? cover.
Here's the actual cypher from a newspaper and the corresponding symbols that appear on TSI?:
Only the Y doesn't match the code, but the Zodiac killer was fond of spelling letters backwards to fuck with people, which may be what Axl is doing. Anyway, the message when decoded clearly says:FUCKEM ALL
Great detective work!! Seems to run with the Charles Manson/serial killer theme too.
Re: Spaghetti Incident
This album always got negative reviews. The biggest problem for me was that it was their last release. I wish we could have gotten one more album of their songs before the split. Other than that I think it's a pretty solid bunch of covers. I don't listen to it often though.

Re: Spaghetti Incident
Wow I always wondered about those markings...that's some cool shit!!!
The interesting thing about GNR to me is how well they do covers.
LALD, KOHD, most of TSI, SFTD - I really love the GNR versions of those tracks. Sounded like sailing would have been another kickass version if we had a studio of it.

Re: Spaghetti Incident
Yeah a sailing one would be good.
I like TSI personally some great covers on there.
The only covers I don't really like of GNR's is Whole Lotta Rose and Heartbreak Hotel.
I like both of those... I got the Heartbreak Hotel off Itunes from some Hollywood Rocks Vinyl edition.. Pretty good stuff..
