Re: Elm Street Remake
JVD posted a thread regarding a relaunch, and I posted a thread last week regarding the possible shakeup in this company. While it does sound like they are going ahead with the relaunch, it is no way in hell set in stone.
The F13 remake isn't set in stone either. Everyone is gonna have to keep their eyes on what goes down at New Line in the coming months.
They will get a huge backlash from horror fans if Englund is not cast as Freddy.

I really do think this is one movie the should really leave the fuck alone. This movie was a breakthrough in a different type of horror movie where the story was very unique, to redo it, it will never match up to the original. And for what, to cast a hot looking cast

I definitely do not want this one to be remade either, the first one is a classic even though most of the sequels past 2 were not very good. The fact that they would dare cast someone other than England to play Freddy makes this project obscene!
As far as it being unique and original it really wasn't for the most part. Many think this was the first movie of its kind but a very good movie came out three months prior to the release of Nightmare on Elm Street called Dreamscape. It doesn't have the same exact storyline but there are many similarities. In Dreamscape a government funded project tests the idea of using psychics to enter other people's dreams. Some of these test subjects learn that they can alter what happens in the person's dreams they enter. To make a long story short (and I don't want to give away the whole story so I won't be very detailed) a bad guy happens to be in this group and a particular group wants to use his power toward the assassination of someone else. Because if you die in your dream...guess what? You die for real.
Anyone who hasn't seen this movie should definitely watch it. Besides the obvious similarities in the storyline there are many scenes that look just like something out of a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. I do like Nightmare better but this movie is very good itself and it came first.
