What a dick move, just lame. He should never leave a group of people (who paid, which is lame in it's own right) standing around ever.

I met Metallica twice through their fan club. I paid for membership to join the club, but the meet and greet was a lucky draw to a select few.
So I got to meet James and Jason in 1998, and the whole band in 2004. Having met them and seeing how down to earth cool people they were, made me like them even more.

So meeting your musical heroes can be a good thing sometimes.

he's getting paid regardless...what does he care? yeah its a jerk way of doing things but if he decides to say whatever then its gonna be whatever

maybe this is why axl doesnt do this stuff...he knows there will be nights when he's jsut gonna wanna say fuck it

even when i met bumble in hamilton he was only in the room for 15 minutes or so before he left and noone else from the band came down...the next night in london bumble DJ and Richard came out but the rest of the guys didnt feel like it, they are peopel too they cant be happy fan oriented peopel all the time

Then they shouldn't agree to a meet & greet. Or they should cancel in advance.

I don't know if you paid to meet GN'R, but anytime you PAID MONEY to meet these people, it should either A) be honored fully, or B) refunded due to lack of interest.

Not only did they not get their money back, but they didn't get their money's worth AND had to wait and wait with the guy right fuckin' there.

If he'd of just went ahead and done the mother fucker, he'd of been done and still at 2 hours to spare.

40 fuckin' people is basically a classroom of people + 10. It can't be that hard to shake a hand, say hey, take a picture, sign an album or two, and fuck off to the lesbos man.

"Well i'm not in the mood"

Then don't fucking go. But you don't keep the guys waiting, then renig, then renig the renig, then half ass it.

BAD fuckin' move man.

I guess ultimately the moral of the story is -- I need to keep my ass far away from these meet & greets. It wouldn't take more than an hour of fucking around for me to mow right through his security and sit down right beside him and ask what the fuckin' deal is. And i'm not a tough guy. It's not who I am at all. But that stuff infuriates me to the point of risking bodily harm.

I guess my point is, just forget about it. He's not worthy of your time. Neither is anyone else of them.

I know what you mean, it's sort of wrong for us to elevate people to a different level. However at the same time...sometimes I like to meet people - not to worship them but because I respect them. For example I'd love to meet Axl because his lyrics always make me think and he seems like an intelligent guy. And i'd like to meet dave mustane because his life story inspres me (comming back from injuries etc).

I wouldn't put vince on that level, although even for his faults you'd have to give him that he's acomplished stuff in the music business, but I'll admit this meeting was more fan based...basicly I had the 7" vinyl of Dr Feelgood blasting all the time as a teenager so i thought it would be cool to meet the guy who sings on it. I don't think he's above me - but I do like his music I must say.

metallex78 wrote:

He can't sing for shit these days, not that he ever really could live anyway, so those kind of primadonna antics are completely unacceptable.

Yeah to be honest that didn't help his cause with me. I mean to be frank the gig had some issues. It was a fun night..but its the first time i've seen a gig in a while where I wondered if the price was kinda too high for what I got. Much respect to Mick who plays even in with his health problems, and also to Tommy Lee who remains a great example of a rock drummer. But I was a bit suspect on the rest of the gig considering i paid $180 to go.

I think Nikki's bass was overwhelming the sound, and vince really seemed to be struggling. Although I'll grant he did seem to be trying his heart out in places with big screaming outros on the last couple of songs. But I will say it was kinda the opposite of the Ac/Dc effect. Where you go and say "damn they're old but they still got it". In this case Tommy still has it but motley as a unit really wasn't what it could have been I hate to say. I do wonder if it's just an off night tho as I liked "Saints of LA" as an album...I can see them still doing good studio work anyway.

But as a long time fan I'd 100% have his back on that. I mean i'm realistic that its cool at all for people to be rocking in their 50s and stuff. But its an additional reason to not piss on fans after the show.

maybe he was just having a bad day or was feeling worn out, they;ve been on tour for a while now havent they?

Yeah I don't mean to be inhuman about it.

And I can appriciate how famous people are dogged for autographs and hastled and how tired they are on tour.

My issue is more with the way this went down.

It's not like I came and found him at an airport or out the front of his house. I went to the paid meet and greet.

Hey I could have even been ok with it it if they'd come out and said "Vince is really tired and doesn't want to do the meet and greet afterall".

I'd be ok with that. Shit happens. But rather they had us line up next to where he is sitting and drinking for 3 hours...all the while promicing that we were 20 mins out from stating...THEN they cancel....just seemed like it wasn't handled well. Pulling the pin at the start of the night before we waiting would have been disapointing but understandable...but inviting us to a function...then making us wait while you play with strippers then just walking out is pretty rude I recon.

metallex78 wrote:

Exactly....I've met Bumble and most of the crew from new GNR and they really went out of their way to be kind to us, desprite it even being a free meet not any kind of paid deal.

And I met sebastian bach in an airport when he was tired from flying and he still spent ages talking to me.

I've met marty friendman and adler at clinics and they were also pretty cool about things.

Like i say, I can understand that people are human beings, but I just really don't think he needed to be quite that rude to us. If he didn't wanna do it afrterall, he could have just said, but it was more like he just didn't give a shit at all if we were inconvienced and so kept us waiting there for hours...let alone the business of the payments.

Ahh well I'm done bitching...and truth be told I do enjoy their music anyway...but yeah..I'm def going to think twice about sending any more money his way. I might be a download motherfucker - well at least till i recoup the value wink
