Re: METALLICA and LOU REED: Official Web Site Launched
I dug the part where Hetfield was singing at the end, but the Lou Reed parts were terrible!

reminds me of rebel meets rebel
Exactly what I thought... And I consider that a bad thing.
I dig Pantera and I dig Coe, but Rebel Meets Rebel didn't come off as them working together. It came off as them both doing what they do, then cut and pasting it without trying to fill a middle to me.

that makes rebel meets rebel sound like Vulgar Display Of Power. I had a tiny bit of hope that it wasn't gonna be a complete fucking train wreck.
That tiny bit of hope has left the building.

I'm reserving judgement till I hear the whole thing.
Metallica is a hit or miss band to my tastes.
Some of their songs are guitar genius and I have a lot of love and respect for them for it. However, they are also inconsistant IMO. Some amazing tracks and some very bland music too.
I agree with metalalex that the end part had potential, so I think I'll give them a pass till we hear some full songs.

Its sounds exactly as I feared, a monotone 'poet' riffing over a heavy metal band.
This partnership has all the ingredients for a steaming turd and the snippet they served up is brown, stinks and has corn in it.
I do not expect diamonds and ice cream to follow...

Only in recent times. Vintage 'Tallica was flawless. They've been a singles band since Load. I didn't get the "Justice II" love affair for Death Magnetic. It was another singles album imo.
