All he has to do is start getting ready sooner.  It has nothing to do with giving a 100% performance.

And I have heard much, much better singers in bars.  I've heard better singers in high school chorus.  Axl is NOT a good technical singer.  He's not.  All you fanboys need to get a grip.  Axl isn't famous for being a great singer.  He never has been.  The sooner you realise that, the sooner you can be in touch with the real world.

Of course there are better singers than Axl in all walks of life. I've always graded him on "performance" rather than technical singing ability. That's why he's up there with MJ, Elvis and Freddie (IMO) as some of the best performers of all time.

And I agree with that 100%.  THAT is what he's known for (on stage at least).

I agree with both you guys here. The arguement that Axl needs to wait untill he's ready is bull. It's no different than a fighter training themselves to be at their peak at 10:00pm if that's when their fight takes place. If their fight takes place at 7:00pm they train accordingly. It's no different for Axl. All he needs to do is start preparing earlier.

As for his voice, yeah he's never been a great live singer but he is great live. It's such a  weird thing. And in fact sometimes the worse he sang the better it was haha! Like in the early 90's.

Although to be honest after watching a lot of clips from 2010 recently his stage presence has seriously diminshed over the years. I think it's his image. Sorry to say but the guy looks rather ridiculous these days. Watch the clip of Reading festival.... I mean for some reason he's not pulling off his look the way guys like Tyler or Jagger can. I'm not sure why but he's just looking like a try hard these days.

Still in 2010 when I saw him his voice was amazing so...  I'll take a goofey looking image anyday if it means his voice will be killer.

I'm sorry but that's just flat out wrong.

Axl's trained his range to something very close to F♯1- G5.

Given his natural voice is a baritone, you'd expect him to be able to sing maybe F2 to F4. Although sometimes his running around messes with it, he also has very strong breath control.

There's not a lot of people around with that kind of ability, there's some, but it's actually very rare.

Ummm...you can't tell me what I've heard.  I'm telling you factually that I have heard a ton of better technical singers.  All the range in the world is irrelevant if you can't consistently hit the notes.  That is where he fails.

I've always believed what Axl said about needed to go on when he's ready to give the best performance possible.

In talking to friends about the upcoming tour, I've been saying "Now what you've heard is true. Guns N' Roses won't start until 11 or possibly 12, but within one song of watching Axl, you'll know why you waited"

^^

Haha, exactly.

In 2006, all I heard was bitch, bitch, bitch about Axl being fuckin' late, and BOOM Jungle starts, tops are off, chicks are throwing their panties on stage...

It's kind of like those stories Izzy & Slash told about fanboy's girlfriends who were all stuck up and only ever been with one guy, and as soon as GN'R walked into the room they were on the floor getting gangbanged.

Something about stardom makes people hate your guts, then as soon as you're in the room, they're sucking your cock.

Ummm.. no 2006 was notorious for people being rather pissed at his late starts because his performances weren't justifying the wait. believe me when Jungle hit in Calgary and Edmonton in 2006 nobody was throwing their panties, people mostly had their arms crossed with a  look that said "you made me wait now impress me motherfucker and unfortunately at both of those shows he did NOT impress. In fact the Calgary show was half empty by the time they played PC.

FACT is the insane late starts ruin the vibe of the shows. People are tired at 1:00am and just want to go home. crowds would be so much more into it if he'd start at 9:00 like most other bands do. Also nobody is ever cheering for an encore at Gn'R these days. Why? Cause it's too fucking late and they're ready to go home. FACT.

Plus it pissed me off all three times I've seen them in 2006 and 2010 that I couldn't go grab a  drink with my buddies at the pub afterwards cause everything was fucking close. That's bullshit!

With the exception of LV and NYC when the lights came up the venues were nearly empty due to late starts.
