Re: Lotus unveils new 'Freddie Mercury Edition' car
Lotus unveils new 'Freddie Mercury Edition' car
by Liz Kelly Nelson / Zap2it.com
Lotus has created a one-of-a-kind Freddie Mercury-edition Evora S in honor of late Queen singer. It's set to be auctioned off for charity as part of a celebration of what would have been Mercury's 65th birthday. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Mercury Phoenix Trust -- an HIV AIDS charity founded by the singer's bandmates.
The car, a coupe, is ivory with a red and gold racing stripe that runs across the top of the car. The interior is also yellow in, according to autoblog.com, an homage to a 1986 stage costume worn by Mercury.
On Monday (Sept. 5), Mercury would have been 65 years old. He died from AIDS complications in 1991.
