Re: Lady GaGa Thread
People haven't moved on. There's still interest In GaGa. Having said that, it's time to go away for awhile. She's been overexposed for years but the killer songs kept people interested. The new album just isn't very good and that's why people are reacting like this.
Either dive into the studio and whip up a quick album or go away for 2 or 3 years.
Like I said before, this album is her MAYA but could have much more serious repercussions as she's much bigger than M.I.A.
Great review of her discography Axlin.

Lady Gaga Debuts ‘Edge of Glory’ Video
By Andrew Tijs
Lady Gaga keeps the hype going by delivering a tribute to the ‘80s in ‘Edge of Glory’ video.
In a far more low-key video than almost anything she’s put out before, Gaga struts through a recreation of what’s meant to be the New York brick apartment buildings she lived in before becoming a superstar.
As ‘80s as the song the song sounds, so does the video look: black leather, steam, gratuitous cleavage and backlights.
It’s may as well be set in the same street as Michael Jackson’s ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ clip.
It even features E Street Band saxophonist and solo star Clarence Clemons on the stoop with her and doing a solo.
Anyway, check it out below and come up with an explanation for watching leather-clad boobs at work.

Lady Gaga went very method in her drag performance as Jo Calderone at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. An insider has confirmed to Us Weekly that the singer went so far as to wear a prosthetic penis under her suit.
Gaga remained in character all night, and insisted on speaking to the press as Calderone. "I am from New Jersey," Gaga-as-Jo told Us backstage. (In reality, Gaga grew up in Manhattan, back when she was still known as Stefani Germanotta.) "My family is from Palermo, Sicily and I am not a singer or a model or an actor or anything. I am just a guy."
Re: Lady GaGa Thread
Yeah, what the hell was that? That was disturbingly awkward. I don't think ANYONE was getting it either. I never thought I'd say this, but I much prefer her changing ridiculous outfits every 10 minutes. That whole thing was just lame! Then again, it was the VMA's, so par for the course.
Re: Lady GaGa Thread
She's a fuckin' weird ass man. Plain and simple, and the more she pushes the envelope the more and more people get creeped out by her. She might be gaining LGBT fans, but she's losing the mainstream "all audiences" fans that made her debut go Diamond (or whatever it was).
It's just too much, in terms of image. TONS AND TONS people already think she's a guy in drag, and I think her VMA performance the other night was her way of poking fun at that.
Problem is - NO ONE was in on the joke. Nobody got it. She came out there and tried to do shtick, nobody got the joke, nor was it funny. Then she does this whole "wtf" show, then she slings Brian May out there for the solo, and although Brian was great and a trooper, he had an "Axl 2006" moment. Other than Dave Grohl, i'm sure all the Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez's and their fans in the audience had NO CLUE who that silver-haired guitarist was.
It was honestly the most clusterfucked, hyped, yet total "catastrophe" performance at the VMA's i've seen since "GN'R" in 2002.
I like GaGa, and like faldor said, the whole thing was lame, cringe-worthy, awful, and in her case further distanced her from her original audience. When Madonna did "shock", she did it with concentrated focus. GaGa does it, and the whole thing reeks of too much effort to BE shocking, and it's not organic.
When I saw that performance I immediately thought "I guarantee you her people and MTV pleaded with her to NOT do this", and because she's got a bunch of yes men around her right now and a bunch of bandwagoners, she probably only agreed to do the VMA's if they'd let her do that awful awful sketch.
Even her gay fans thought it was totally fag.
It was just a disaster on every level. She's destroying her career.
She is truely, on a musical level, an AMAZING talent. Beautiful voice, multi-talented instrumentally, has an ear for good hooks and musical direction.... but I truely am convinced at this point that it's no longer an act - she truely is shithouse rat insane, which will ultimately be her downfall.
Re: Lady GaGa Thread
I think you pretty much summed it up Axlin, and quite nicely at that. Although I don't know if I'd go so far to say she's destroying her career. That seems a bit bold. I still think she's at a point where she can do no wrong, for the most part.
At first I thought she was trying to be Andrew Dice Clay, which would've been funny. She should've gone that route. I guess you must be right about poking fun at the dressed in drag thing. She should've pulled out that fake cock in her pants that she supposedly had. Hey, if you want to be shocking, you might as well go all the way. Not pull some pansy stunt like that. It was just ridiculous.
One more thing too. What's with "You And I"? Is it just me, or did that song sound differently before it got on the record and became a single? I remember the song sounding A LOT better when she sat down at the piano and belted it out by herself. Now she's got these background singers, music, sounds, etc. I mean, I can deal with Brian May, but the rest of it is not needed in my opinion. Song was great the way it was. I guess they needed to "pop" it up.
