Re: Katy Perry Tour Rider Causes Controversy
I was telling a buddy of mine about her tour rider the other day and he claims it happens in sports ALL the time.
He's friends with someone pretty high up in the Illitch Corp (the people who own the Red Wings and Tigers) who says that almost all major sports teams reserve great seats to resell on StubHub, etc themselves.
I know the Cubs do it through their own ticket agency that they own (or at least they did).

Not only do they still do it, but ALL of baseball does with maybe the sole exception of low-selling teams like the Florida Marlins.
MLB regularly promotes StubHub. What most ignorant TV viewers and attending fans don't get is that alot of the time the tickets on StubHub are just the teams themselves re-selling the tickets higher than face value. You don't see it too much for regular season games, but for highly popular "hot ticket" games, teams LOVE doing it and charging twice, sometimes three times face value for nose bleeds. Especially for these interleague matchups that are rarer, when the Yankees, Red Sox & Cubs come to town.
But it's REALLY prevolent during PLAYOFF games. That's when it's absurdly abused.
That's when the Cubs got their ass in a sling. Back in 2003, when the Cubs made it to the NLCS, and some were hoping the first World Series appearence in a half-century, the Tribune Co. who owned the Cubs at the time, bought up tons if not most of the tickets to Games 1, 2 & 6, 7 of the NLCS of their own team, then actually scalped tickets to people on the streets, and they were working for Tribune, or so they were accused.
There was a big lawsuit from fans and people got pretty pissed about. I don't even live there, and I knew about it just from being a Cubs fan. It was just salt in the wound after getting knocked out after being 5 outs within the Series, to see Tribune fucking the fans over on top of that.
I don't mean to sound immature or Axl-ish in nature, but seriously.... corporate America (TM) can go suck a dick. Seriously.

What a bitch that Katy Perry is
http://www.wwtdd.com/2011/08/katy-perry … so-normal/
Katy Perry is in the middle of her California Dreams tour, but on Monday she took her dancers, crew and opening artist Natalia Kills to Six Flags Great America outside Chicago to ride roller coasters. In other words this chick has a lot to learn about being famous. The only way Jennifer Lopez would put someone who worked for her on a roller coaster is if the track wasn’t finished.

That's the key difference. Other than that, the rest is correct. Most artists have absurd riders. And you know what, if I was a rock star - i'd probably have a pretty crazy one too. Why?
Because I can. But i'm not gonna fuck over fans by scalping my own tickets. "Well Ticketmaster does it", fuck them too.
I'm gonna start that Tour Rider that Russ never did....
I get the impression that I'm the only Foo Fighters fan here but I'm telling you; they do everything right by their fans. On this latest tour, their highest ticket price is $60, all fees included. On top of that, you were allowed to skip Ticketmaster and get up to 8 tickets ON LAYAWAY through their website as long as you put 10% down. Then you could pay on the tickets all the way up til 3 weeks from the show. THAT'S how you change your ticket policy; for the better of your fans, not for the better of your fucking spoiled self.
You are definitley NOT the only Foo Fighters fan here! Just scored me some SWEET tickets to their show in Calgary in October. Dave Grohl is fucking legend! The way they went about selling tickets this tme around was pretty sweet
