printed it and read it....Axl will love it! ...not. You will NEVER see Axl and Slash together again.

Two thoughts about Izzy:
I think it was Alan Niven's quote, "He wasn't the heart and soul of the band he was the heart of the soul of the band", is fucking brilliant.

The Author referred to him as "for all intents and purposes retired"...  You would think he could mention the 10 solo albums he's put out since leaving the band.

Also, Duff's sections just make me look that much more forward to his book.

Niven also basically said Slash didn't want to work on all of Axl's epic songs....which backs what Axl has said in the past about having to try to pull stuff out of Slash. I am sure he is referring to Breakdown, Estranged and Nov Rain....Niven basically says Slash caved in to Axl for the money. Somebody needs to put the quote up because it is on point. "From then on, Axl was in charge."

Stuff we already knew but it is good to see different angles. In the end, those records were a great statement because it really showed the potential in all the band members. Sad to see it dissolve so quickly after that.

It's a great read (thanks Russ), but I really think Slash kind of puts his foot in his mouth here.

And here's why, he basically admitted (if you are to believe Alan Niven) that he performed on Axl's UYI epics "for the money". He also let Doug Goldstein run wild, and played the game with Doug, to "keep things going".

So he basically, readily relinquished ALL control of the band over to Axl, imho to take the easy way out, then turns around and claims up and down over the last decade or so that the only way that he'd do a reunion is "mutual respect"?!?! WTF? Even Duff admitted that he should've taken the bull by the horns more, and that wasn't Axl's fault.

The more I read stuff like this, the more and more Axl Rose becomes the George W. Bush of rock stars. A guy that the more info seeps out as history, factual history is told, the more and more he is vindicated and NOT seen near as much as the facist nazi as he's been depicted over the years.

The negative is, the more and more articles you see like this, the more you realize that Axl & Slash will never ever be on a stage again, RNRHOF or not, and this is gonna blow some minds, but there's one man who can blame himself for that and it's - SLASH. There I said it.

Niven in the past has come across as a factual guy, and I don't know if it's just the interview snippets that were taken of him, but he comes across as just "mixing like oil & water" with Axl. It doesn't come across as Axl perpetrating some J.R. Ewing-like takeover of GN'R. It comes across more like Niven was the BUFFER that PROTECTED Slash from Axl's personal interests, and once Niven was gone, Slash was left defenseless against his own LAZINESS at business, NOT incompetence. And Axl seized the opportunity not to slight the band, but to (at the time) protect what he saw the future of Guns N' Roses (obviously we all know that didn't pan out).

On a brighter note.... hey Russ, good job - NOW I'M EXCITED FOR A GUNS N' ROSES TOUR in 2011 in the U.S.!!!!

'Cause after reading that article, it's time to completely and I mean COMPLETELY move on. It's obvious those guys have. It's a done deal man.

Here's to (raises glass) a new GN'R record very very soon. 5

Fucking crazy it's been 20 years. Looks like a  sweet article. I'm gonna buy it tomorrow. I'd love a reunion but honestly i don't even care anymore. Seriously it's not something I pine for. I'd rather have a new U2 album than a Gn'R reunion at this point whereas in the past I thought a renunion would be the coolest fucking thing ever... now it's like whatever. If it happens great if not so what.

1991 was classic

Pearl Jam - Ten
Nirvana - Nevermind
Metallica - Black Album
Gn'R Use Your Illusion I & II
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
U2 - Achtung Baby

who am I forgetting? I know there's more.
