The morning after the Sugarland one happened, my room mate got up in the morning and she was like 'Hey, what happened with a stage falling at some concert last night?" and the only thing I could reply with was "God punished some people for liking Sugarland"
It was wrong to say, but I couldn't help it.

Dad: Did you hear about that stage collapse that killed 4?
Me: Yeah, it was in Indiana, a storm hit and caused the stage to collapse at a Sugarland concert
Dad: Was the band on stage when it happened?
Me: Unfortunately not
I'm sorry, it wasn't a conscious thing I said to be funny. It just sort of blurted out, and got that reluctant chuckle in the room. Everyone knew it was comedy gold, but were afraid to laugh after the events.
I just said "sorry, I didn't mean it like that.... too soon?"
