Faldor.. how many half empty arenas were on the last US Tour??

Doing well is Bon Jovi, U2,Metallica

GNR aren' doing Motley/Poison numbers.

I never said they were doing Bon Jovi, U2, Metallica numbers.  I said they were doing WELL ENOUGH to continue along as they have been.  As far as we know anyway.  If you know something I don't, please enlighten me.

I know they haven't toured the US in quite awhile.  I know their last attempt didn't go so well.  There's nothing to indicate that either is going to change any time soon.

I agree here but lets not give credit to poison who without Motley would be in worse shape than Axl

I agree. Poison have been attaching themselves to double-headline bills for awhile now to keep revenue up, as well as the venue size.

If they were to go out on their own like Axl, even though Poison has the original band, they'd probably be a theater band at the very best. Probably not any higher than a Whitesnake or The Cult deal.

well, he`s doing it for over 10 years now.

You're right. And he's now running out of options with it. He's struggled for five years to put together another U.S. tour, and BOTH 2002 & 2006 the U.S. shows were plagued with cancellations, and usually had their tours cut short, on top of reduced ticket rates, and barely half-full venues.

Axl Rose will always be able to fill up a theater, just based on past work. But it'll be a sad sad sad day when Guns N' Roses have to play community college theaters with Eddie Money & Kenny Rogers, because Axl's too much of "a man" to put the actual band back together.

I'm not trying, once again, to get into this pointless and dead-end discussion, but if he's just gonna tour the hits, let's get the guys who recorded out there. If he's gonna release new music LET'S DO IT. I'm ALL EARS, and FULLY SUPPORTIVE.

But what he's doing now is like totally underwhelming. BUT, if he's out with GN'R in December - i'll see him again. Just based on the fact that after FIVE years without a single U.S. show, you never know when you'll see Axl again, so you might as well try to make a show.

True, and who knows.  Maybe that's a major reason they haven't been able to set up a US tour as of yet, although I think the lawsuit with Azoff played into it a fair bit.  Maybe they are setting their sights too high to play arenas and larger venues and they're finding it hard to make it a profitable venture.  We really don't know at this point, all we can do is speculate.  Such is life as a GNR fan.  But until we see a US tour list or hear that the band is losing massive amounts of money on touring, it seems a bit premature to say they NEED to change their ways.  If they do in fact NEED to, they will.  They haven't yet, so I assume that means they're still floating with their heads above water.

Also with the state of the US economy right now, attendance numbers will probably be lower than before.  I don't think the concert industry is exactly booming at the moment.  Good timing has never been a strong suit of this band.  Release "Chinese Democracy" when record sales begin to hit an all time low.  Tour the US when the economy is in the shitter.  Nice!

You guys are smoking crack if you think Axl doesn't make any money from touring...the 2009 and 2010 tours had to have made a large amount of money. The Asian shows and South American shows did VERY well. Azoff didn't sue for 2 million in commissions for nothing...

"In March, Azoff sued Rose, claiming the rocker violated an oral agreement to pay 15% of earnings, or nearly $2 million, from a lucrative concert tour."

The perception that Axl broke up the band is plenty reason enough for people to hate him.

I haven't ever met one person, other than myself that liked Axl, outside of just being respectful of his rocker ability.

Most always say, almost predictably - "Axl was the MAN back in the day, but I fucking hate him for breaking up the band"

I've heard that so many times, and what do you say to defend Axl? It's a pretty accurate statement.

Axl would win the entire world back over with ONE move...
