That's fine.  You can prefer Lady Gaga.  But to be so harsh and say Katy Perry has NO talent, seems a bit harsh to me.

I'd also like to add that I'm not a big fan of Lady Gaga but once again she went on the Stern show and I warmed up to her more because of it.  She too gave a fantastic performance of "Edge of Glory".  A song I could really have cared less about before hearing her do it on Stern, and honestly I still don't think the studio version comes anywhere close to the stripped down version with her at the piano.  That's when she's at her best.

If you haven't seen this, give it a viewing.  It's great.  And if you have the time, check out her explanation on the meaning of the song leading up to the performance.  I was damn near tears after hearing her set the stage, it gave the lyrics so much more meaning.

That GaGa Howard performance of Edge of Glory PROVES she is an amazing talent.

Perry's got SOME talent, and her songs are catchy. The thing is - they're just not that good. I don't get why she gets the attention she gets at all. California Gurls? Really? I wonder how many bodies are still hanging upside in a closet, gutted, because of that song.

As for Perry's "hotness", I guess if you're one of those guys who can fuck a Brown-Bagger, because she's got big tits... hey, have at it... when I see her face I literally want to puke.

And GaGa.... nobody ever accused her of being hot. She really looks like a dude, frankly. But a very talented dude.

Now you don't know that. Russell Brand says she's very talented after 11pm.

I agree.  They both suck imo, but then I am not a fan of the charts, although I listen to most of it quite a lot at work for want of a better station to tune into.

That's the thing, it's all pop crap for the most part.  Some you can tolerate more than others.  Lady Gaga may be talented, but she's got just as many crappy songs as Katy Perry that are hits because they're catchy.  Alejandro, Papparazzi, Telephone.  You're telling me those songs are any better than Hot and Cold, Teenage Dream, or Firework?

And while Katy Perry's "hotness" may have something to do with her level of success or popularity.  Lady Gaga has the whole outcast, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson thing going for her.  It's nothing we haven't seen before.  You don't think THAT adds to her popularity, or in fact fueled it in the first place?  Her talent alone has not made her into what she is today.  Not even close in fact.

I'll agree. On all accounts.

1) GaGa appeals to just as many, based on the "freak" factor, same as MJ who brought REAL DIFFERENT folks out of the woodwork to claim his innocence in the molestation cases, as well as to mourn his death

2) I'll also agree with that fact that GaGa has just as much filler as Perry. I feel the GaGa has to merge the best from The Fame with the best from The Fame Monster EP to have a real bonafide "great album". Born This Way has moments of greatness, but is LOADED with filler. The scary thing is, her B-sides/Deluxe Edition tracks are some of the best stuff to come out of those sessions, and she wanted to bury them.
