Re: GET WELL SOON RON!!!!

Posted Thursday 4th August 2011 from TwitlongerAbout tomorrow's gig... Poc has been at my studio for the last 2 weeks while I produce her album. Making her music sound like *her* and what she feels is a true expression of her personality. Heavier, more guitars, more rock, more energy. The songs should have a hint of how the album will sound
This will be an interesting gig for me. My first one since the car accident. The accident was worse than I let on. I couldn't move my fingers or raise my arms in front of me, pain and uncertainty about the future was enough to look into suicide rather than 30 more years of constant pain. Couldn't speak fast or make simple decisions. I'm scared that I'll expose myself as less than who I was. Been training hard constantly for 2 months, physical therapy, doctors, tests - but this is my first time playing a show with a guitar strap pressing on my neck, and numbing my left arm. Will do my best, that's all I can do. Hope to see you there
Ron, even when you were still hurtin you didnt let on that it was that bad...sincerest wishes that you get well soon and get back to to rockin' out with the Ron's Beard on that double neck guitar!
Best Wishes on a a Speedy Recovery!

Re: GET WELL SOON RON!!!!
Guitar aside, Having met Ron I'd like to say that he could never expose himself as less than what he was as he's a stand up great guy, he's done a lot for charity, for his fans and no doubt others in his life. I know that's not what he ment, but he's all class and it deserves to be said.
Constant pain is a very difficult thing to live with and I wish him a full and speedy recovery away from that hell - and that he can resume a normal life with none of the speach and other problems.
Guitarwise it must be tough to go from Ron's level of abilty into this sort of problem - let's hope he can take solace from Dave Mustaine's story - who once lost all use of his left hand and trained long and hard to come back stronger than before eventually.
My absolute best wishes to Ron in such a terrible time.

Re: GET WELL SOON RON!!!!
I really hope he gets better, even regardless of his guitar-playing commitments in GN'R, but at least to back to a somewhat normal life, in regards to speech and no physical pain. He seems like a really good human being, and deserves nothing less.

Believe me, I know first hand.
I'm the same way, I don't let on, I get worse, then it gets so bad i've gotta say something, and it's far worse at that point.
It's called being humble - most people aren't that way. These kind of people don't want to be a burden to anyone.
I can also understand the suicide thing. I mean think about it, all Ron ever wanted to do is play guitar, and it would take that away from him. That's a heavy thing to deal with.
So before anyone says, "poor little GN'R guitarist, it must be so bad"... just try to put yourself in his shoes. I'd feel the same way, i'd be very disillusioned.
Get well soon Mr. Foot
