Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
DTJ is still one of the most bad ass fuckin' songs of all time. It takes Shackler's, rips it's fucking instines out with it's bare nails, then smiles in it's face as it slowly dies to a flameco outro.
DTJ still kicks ten tons of ass!

Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
I just don't dig Myles. I actually think there are far more - better - songs on Slash 2010, that don't feature Myles. Back From Cali is decent, but I think it would've been far better with Chester Bennington or Corey Taylor or Brent Smith, and Starlight is overrated by Slash fans.
I still think Ghost is just fuckin' rockin' beyond all belief.
Interesting...I really like the myles tracks...admittedly my top favs are probably Ghost, By The Sword and Doctor Alibi - none of which are myles - but he does them ok live - and then I also really love Starlight, Nothing to Say, and Baby Can't Drive and Back to Cali.
Love "Watch This" too but instumentals are a little different.

Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
I am not saying it is without a doubt him, but
I am...at first glance it looks shreddier than you'd expect but when you study a lot of his other playing it's actually very much in keeping with some of his other works...the whole thing reaks of him artisticly, in choice of notes, feel and the rest...i'd be amazed if it's not him.

I tried hard. Really hard to like Myles. Seen him live, and just thought he was very average. No stage presence, and his vocals grade my ears after awhile. I can only handle 2002 Axl so much also. About the only thing I can give Myles credit on... I think the Myles-fronted acoustic version of "Fall To Pieces" on Slash: Deluxe Edition - is BETTER than the VR original. jmho
And btw, "Watch This" is the best song on the album. I have wet dreams of Slash giving Axl that song, and Axl laying some lyrics n' vocals on it, maybe even extending it a bit. UYI-epic territory there.
Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
agree w/that ^
disappointed in myles when i saw them live & Watch This by far the best thing on Slash. should stretched it out into a 15/25min jam!
& yea DTJ is like top 3 Guns songs.

Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
Just listened to Vocalise, damn, so beautiful
Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
Hey guys, I need a favor.
Speaking of Vocalise...
Can you guys put together a list of great Slash tunes, not the obvious stuff like album cuts on Snakepit & VR & Slash solo, but stuff like great bonus tracks, demos, cutting room floor, Deluxe Edition add-ons, special guest appearences on other stuff, that kind of thing?
'Cause there's a beautiful melodic Slash song that I remember, that I thought was off a special guest appearence, or unreleased or something, that I just CAN NOT find. I want to say it was from the early 2000's.
It would just be nice for the diehard Slashers, if they had some recommendations that were not widely released (you know, like Messages-type stuff that didn't see major release)
