Slash: I like to play Roses tunes

Slash has revealed he still has a ball performing Guns N' Roses hits.
Despite the animosity between him and rocker frontman Axl Rose, the former Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist - whose real name is Saul Hudson - still plays some of the band's older tracks when touring.
"Playing the Guns stuff is a lot of fun for me because, for a long time, with the exception of It's So Easy and Mr Brownstone and various different bands, I didn't play any Guns and Roses material, especially not in Velvet Revolver because it just wasn't the thing to do," he told Leona Graham on Absolute Classic Rock.
"So when I started doing the solo idea, I wanted to be able to revisit all the material in my catalogue."
Slash, who celebrates his 46th birthday on July 23, added: "And so doing the Guns material was sort of exciting and fun for me, and I dig doing it. The audience obviously digs it as well."
He tries to find time to work on his upcoming second solo album in between his current UK tour.
"It should be out in March of next year. [I'm] writing it. We have amazing material, it's going to be an awesome record," he said.
"So I'm a little speechless, in terms of being excited about it. As soon as we get back, I'll commence pre-production and we'll probably go into the studio, in the winter."

He said that last time!
It's like the girl in high school who promises she'll give it up to you on the next date, but on the next date you still end up jerking off at the end of the night.

It's great that's he's playing more GN'R tunes, I just wish Slash would delve deeper into the GN'R catalogue other than playing the obvious big numbers.

that he did...but I thought he delivered last time. The slash album had some great riffs and pretty awesome songs I thought. Another album of that quality and I'd be happy.

I really liked that album, I think it's Slash's second best post-GN'R work music wise, and it's in the Top 5 of my 'GN'R related albums' list.
However I think the second 'Slash' cd can be even better than the first one, cause now it'll be a band album to some degree, and sometimes he alone didn't find the best solutions on the first one. SlashI had amazing potential, but some songs would have needed to be 'explored'. Not to mention that the session musicians did an uninspired cash grab work on it - these guys will be much more motivated.

It does come down to taste and Slash's current output along with Myles ain't my taste. But I respect you guys digging it.
I just wish he got someone who'd push him.
If you are talking about Axl, what guitar player since Slash has Axl had that "got" Axl musically like Slash did? Bucket was the closest, but hard for me to believe any of them could have turned NR or Estranged into what Slash made them after being handed a piano piece and turning it into a guitar piece.

Re: Slash: I like to play Roses tunes
Robin and Bucket both got Axl, imo.
Bucket yes... Robin on ballad's, maybe... But neither could truly capture or match Axl's rage and emotion on the guitar, and that is what Slash did well... Weather it be "Its So Easy" or "Coma" or "NR", Slash's guitar always fit the mood perfectly with Axl. Even Brian May said, "I think Axl is still searching for the guitar player to replace Slash"... This was after bucket, robin, tobias were all in the band...
