Slash, 45, was born Saul Hudson in London and raised in England and Los Angeles. He was an original member of the rock band Guns N' Roses which formed in 1985 and sold 100m albums worldwide. Slash – considered one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time – left Guns N' Roses in 1996 and went on to have further success with the group Velvet Revolver. He has performed with everyone from Michael Jackson to Ray Charles, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is a playable character in Guitar Hero III. He performs at High Voltage Festival this weekend and, on Monday, releases the single Starlight from his debut solo album.

Doug Goldstein, aka the barrier between Axl and the rest of the world at the time.

I'll give Slash credit, he's stayed consistent on Doug Goldstein. He fuckin' HATED that guy from the get. Called him "Axl's boy", and in his book credited Doug largely for destroying the band.

Said Doug used to be notorious for twisting words, and running back and forth with Axl and starting shit like a little fuckin' turd.

Of course Axl thought Doug was just the coolest. Kept him up through 2001, until Doug booked a tour prematurely that Axl found out about on the internet, then Axl fired him.

Btw - this is a cool interview. I like interview's like this. Instead of all music questions, you find out a bit more about the man.

And it's straight-forward, right to the point. Dig it.

I miss the 'What is your ringtone?' question. It's fanboyism, but I'm really interested in what these guys choose.

My guess for Slash right now would be that diddy he did for Phineas & Ferb.

I just got a new ringtone today. Jerry Reed's "Texas Bound and Flyin'"
