Re: Great vinyl shopping day for me!
Some nice pick ups. I've been thinking about hooking up my old player to my current setup so I can play some of my vinyl.
Was even thinking of trying to buy a new quality turntable and having it run through all my other stereo equipment and making it a permanent fixture. If I do that then I would be more inclined to use it regularly and I might have to start doing some shopping expeditions like yours Russ to fatten up my collection/playlist.
There is still something special about the warm sound of a vinyl record. Yeah sure there's limitations with the medium, but then most mediums have their pros and cons. But just the whole ritual of taking the vinyl out of it's sleeve and putting it on, looking at the great artwork on the album and the inside sleeve etc etc. That whole process/experience is tough to beat.

Yeah I always get a chuckle when I look at the liner notes on GN'R Lies, and it says "Write Axl at [insert address]"
I'm sure it was meant tongue-in-cheek like a 'Dear Abby' column with the tabloid-style artwork, but I always wondered how many people took it seriously.
And if he DID write back, how fuckin' psyched they'd be.
In 2011, you just drop a line or two on Twitter, boom, done.

That whole Lies cover/liner notes was brilliant. I'd consider it one of the best album covers of all time.

Oh it fucking did sir. My room mate and I raided her parents vinyl collection tonight whilst drinking so we didn't get to here all of it, but I at least got to here "That's The Way" and oh man was it awesome.
God I love that song.
By the way, they're touring here next year.

Always loved the hell out of Miss Me Blind.
I was always slightly ashamed that there was a time I wanted hair extensions like Boy George. Culture Club was a bit before my time, but MTV played that Karma Chameleon video over and over for years, and Boy George was on one of my favorite shows -
The A-Team - once, so I eventually checked them out to see what was up.
When I was a kid, after the early 90's rock scene died out, I spent the rest of the decade sifting through all of pop acts from the 80's. Miami Vice was a huge influence on me tapping into the first six years of my life and the culture of the time.
