imo: slash nightrain > BH nightrain >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BBF nightrain
but yes, perhaps my favourite GnR song & the quintessential GnR song. i believe shared writing credits amongst the AFD-5 & quite probably my favourite Solo ever.
i fucking LOVE how it fades out just @ the perfect moment
but i also fucking loved it on bootlegs & then live-era where the solo gets to end & the song comes back around, it's like the best of both worlds.
& i remember at the time BH @ leeds 2002 just freaking out like "what the fuck! holy shit! oh my god!" he just nailed it & the attitude of the band, which was something i had doubted that era was capable of before that moment & even throughout the concert. but whenever BH shredded that it was one of those moments that just blow yer mind & get you right in the balls. it was fierce. & i don't think ron's captures that, i find it a little messy & incoherent.
Re: Post your favourite fookin' GNR songs and tell us why!
yea it does. it's like the ultimate GnR party song yet has that side to it that isn't pretty/attractive but pure trash. perfect. it's relentless driving until it crashes or just can't go anywhere else except explode. actually like a lot of GnR songs it's like an explosion that just gets more & more violent until it's crescendo. that's why it's fade out is so killer it's like it could go on forever like some evil, drunk universe. until it hits the floor unable to handle anymore pace of partying.
the best drinking & driving song ever. i mean best drinking song. and best driving song. not @ the same time of course. ahem.
when i was a kid eavsdropping on my brother's record collection i always fucking loved the line: i got a molotov cocktail with a match to go/i smoke my cigarette with style - so menacing & funny & just that shit-cool stance. defo the coolest band in the world at that time.

That nighttrain video is badass!
I don't want to even get into which line up is better as I love all the solo versions in different ways, each of them plays it with kinda a different approach and each of them suit the band at that phase IMO. Bumble sure has some chops
I know not everyone liked the braids but to me Axl looks very fucking cool in this video. He just seems in one of his badass nights and looks real cool with all that yellow lighting and shit. Fuck there is something about the way he does this song live that always kicks ass too. The "take it" for the solo, and the "I'll never fucking learn", the "good...fucking night..."
In fact this whole vid has caused me to geek out. Awesome song, and the proshot nature of this vid kicks ass, so much better than fan boots. I'd love to see more of the new line ups proshot.

just saw this...pretty damn good. ElvisAxl standing still and singing is much better than ElvisAxl running around like a chipmunk!
