Re: Video tour of GN'Rs backstage area
if they don't wanna be musicians touring the world then don't. go home & get a job stacking shelves @ your local supermarket.
no sympathy for the devil.
having to play the same 18 songs that you did the night before while jetlagged, then going & getting a bj from an escort then going to sleep in a 5star hotel.. yea boo-hoo.
we're not saying it as a big fuss, just that it's kinda quite lame & embarrassing.
Re: Video tour of GN'Rs backstage area
Oh Im not so sure. People like those in the vid will always find something to complain about when it's about bands that have seen their glory days gone by and now keep it going. Very few exceptions, but there are some. Maybe a little less whining, but it would be around.

In case you're interested Olorin, this link explains Katy's, frankly ILLEGAL AS FUCK, policy in a bit more detail.
From her rider...

These promoters know the story. If the boy needs bananas and Grolsch.....he gets it.
Obviously. But it kind of shocks me. I know alot of promoters, specifically internationally would probably cup his balls to this day on that stuff, but the longer the new band continues on like this, some of that shit is bound to have to get scaled back. Even if they tour the states, they're like what, a slightly bigger seller than The Cult? Even Crue & Poison do bigger numbers.
"I know you're partial to convenient stores, but dammit H.I., the sun doesn't rise and set on the corner grocery. "
As for cutting costs, just get rid of shit like pyro, scale back the stage a bit and you would save a ton of money.
I am not even going to get in to the US tour argument anymore. The proof will be in the pudding. We can discuss numbers and relevance and venues once it actually happens.

Well Axl does go home sometimes
Anyway, I get what you mean, I'm just saying to me these riders don't seem worse than what I'd expect backstage with any band.
Re: Video tour of GN'Rs backstage area
Honestly I never understood why James Hetfield made such a joke out of Axl's rider back in the day.
Nothing on Axl's rider was that crazy, other than he wanted lots and lots of food (probably mostly for his entourage) and solo cups.
Hetfield went out of his way to be a dick about it. I didn't blame Axl for being pissed over the whole thing.

Lots of these stars all get pissy in their old age after being heavily indulged since their early to mid twenties.
I guess it just gets easy to be an asshole as nobody pulls you up, chins you or calls you out; its just 'yes sir' all the time.
Axl's food rider was ok I thought. I guess it was all the other BS that was pissin' James off.

It's about working in TV, but Charlie Brooker's comments are pertinent:
