RockAAA conducted an interview with Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER, DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED) at this year's edition of the Download festival, which is being held June 10-12, 2011 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. You can now watch the chat below.
During the chat, McKagan revealed that he hoped to join forces with his former GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Izzy Stradlin for a tour later this year. He said: "It would be, it will be, really fun to go to South America and the U.K. with LOADED and Izzy to do a tour together. He and I have talked about it and it'd be great. At the end we'd do some songs together like 'Dust N' Bones' and 'Pretty Tied Up' or whatever. It would be really cool."

Pretty Tied Up would be awesome to hear. Shame we won't hear Axl on it..

You'd think if Axl can go lending his vox to the likes of baz, he'd partake in 1 or 2 suprise appearances for 2 old friends..... I mean it's not like he is doing anything (other than beating fans up)

Izzy touring with Duff to perform Dust N Bones, 14 Years,etc.? WOW.
A reunion gets less interesting as time goes by. You get Axl and Adler beating AFD into the ground, Axl performing a few UYI tracks,VR performing a few GNR songs, Slash playing some GNR songs, and now Izzy jumping in to play songs not performed in 20 years.
Fans are eventually gonna run out of reasons to even want a reunion other than just seeing all of them together onstage again.

That's why I think a reunion should be about new material.
Massive pipe dream I know.
But i mean...playing the old stuff...is it ever going to be any better than it was back in the day? I'm sure it would be cool and all...but to be interesting reunited-GNR needs to become active as a creative force, not just touring the hits.
And I think slash's recent tour is him just deciding he's not holding out to reunite again. Like VR did some GNR but held off on the bigger tracks - but now Slash is going out all guns blazing - SCOM, Jungle, Paradice, Civil War....he's not keeping stuff up the sleave like he used to.
I know new material is nearly impossible if they did reunite, much more likely to get a handful of shows. But new material is where we'd truely see again what they can really give to each others music. Stuff like "By The Sword" would have been awesome with Axl.

Maybe for geeks, but the reality is alot of people would freak to see them together, even playing the hits.
The real problem is the time element.
If they wait too long, most general audiences will be so far removed, they'll have to re-introduce themselves like The Eagles... WHICH, lends credit to what Monkey was saying about them needing new material being the only reason to reunite.

Yeah...in my fantasy world it would play out a bit like Black Ice. Brand new album - that's got the look and feel of the old stuff but also a little bit different (considering Ac/Dc always make the same album - they've actually pushed themselves a little with Black Ice - like rock and roll dream is stretch for them)...then a tour that was mostly classic hits but with some of the new songs.
I just think like the reason for reuuniting shouldnt be the cash, it should be like because Axl can add stuff to slash's songs, and Slash to Axl's again..and there's no one else that quite does what those two do to each others work. I don't want it to be 1985 again...but at the same I know these dudes have a song or two up the sleave that would be amazing when put with that old chemestry....
but it will only happen if Slash and Axl forgive each other and became friends again...and it seems death is more likely
