I've been listening pretty regularly now and have not changed my opinion. The more you listen, the deeper these hooks/melodies/choruses are locked in your head. Each day, I've got a different stuck in there.

It's worth noting, also, that the production on this CD is top-notch. Everything's clear. Exact opposite of CD. Then again, most are.

To expand on Schon's playing, I am hearing things in his playing I'd expect from Petrucci or, gasp, even Buckethead. Cool little flourishes, odd sounds, notes flying all over.

That's based more on him doing different stuff on this CD, not necessarily playing as well. He uses the extreme wah effect that Bucket uses alot, particularly at the end of Venus, and some of the note phrasing and progressions remind me of Dream Theater solos.

Listening to this right now. Just cherry picking songs at the moment. Love that intro on Edge Of The Moment. A style not usually used by Journey. Sounds a bit Iron Maiden-ish. I think this band has a metal album in them if they felt like doing it(they wont). Tantra is pretty fucking good. I could easily see Perry taking this track to a higher level. Human Feel is another highlight, especially that intro.

Human Feel is a monster. It's that thunderous drumming.

I know people say this all the time, but if you listen to it 2 or 3 times, you'll have so many different songs in your head. Definite growers.

And this coming from a guy who doesn't even own their last record. Haven't heard a note of it. I might buy it now.

14 No shit. Had Bri not raved on this album I never would have bothered listening to it.

Yeah I really cant rate it after listening to about half of it. Definitely gonna dig into this with multiple listens. Gonna listen to the whole album tonight as well as GaGa's.

You were right though. Schon is kicking some ass on these songs.

I may have to check out that last album as well.
