Re: Sixx: A.M. To Release Album
Yeah i'm kind of taken back how good it is. It gets better with each listen. This is the best thing Nikki's done since Crue '94.
Wow, now I am really pumped to hear it. Love the 1994 album!

WHOA. Just fuckin. WHOA.
You serious brother? I'm not doubting you, just making sure you're 100% serious about that before I throw it a listen.
I think me, you and one other dude I know are the only people who've ever agreed that the self titled album is rad.
You can count me in that list too. Best Crue album EVER released.
Re: Sixx: A.M. To Release Album

The fact that Vince isn't on it, is one of the album's strongest points.

Well let's be completely honest. Is it really that hard to achieve that title after Crue '94? What has Nikki done since that album that was just Dr. Feelgood territory? Crue has been a singles-only band since that album, most of the albums flat out sucked terribly, with maybe the slight exception to Saints of LA (which was 'ok'), and I was never a Brides of Destruction fan, AND so far I think "This Is Gonna Hurt" is a better album than "The Heroin Diaries".
So yeah, I don't think it's an extreme reach to say the new Sixx:AM album is the best thing since Crue '94.
That was my logic by making that statement. And I stand by it.
But like Neemo said, it's got a cheese factor to it. It's slicked up, almost melodic rock, similar to a modern-appeal like Crue's mid-80's output like Theater of Pain & Girls, Girls, Girls.
Every track on the new album has a 'radio-ready' appeal to it. The hooks, the melodies, you've all heard before on rock radio. There's nothing groundbreaking.
But what they do right is - everything about the cliche they present. It's slick, but it's hot. It's rock, but it's hard. It's catchy, and it's multi-appealing. Everything a rock album should be imho.
Is it one of the greatest albums ever made? No, but is it the best album so far of 2011 - good fuckin' chance. It's really good.
