Would this have been the best song on CD? No, I am not being sarcastic... This guy is so talented that did these.
I've always thought this one was pretty incredible.

They are some pretty good mashups, but I still prefer the originals on their own. I mean it's fun to play around and pretend, but I love "Messages" the way it was recorded. Slash's work on that song, is so heartfelt, especially tied in with the songs meaning. I love Scott's work on the song as well. Too bad that song didn't get the proper attention it deserved. I'll never understand why it didn't make the album.

Yeah I always loved Messages. It really had that Estranged-epicness sans Axl.
It showed the guys could write legendary stuff still.
It was a total shock it didn't make the album. It showed how fuckin' brain dead they are at picking good songs to be honest.
Axl would've never let a song like that walk in GN'R.

Has there ever been a reason given why it didn't make the album. Where'd the song come from anyway? I mean, was it a B-side to another single? Or was it just a demo/song that just didn't make the album. To me, that's one of the best VR songs ever, if not THE best, and a majority of rock fans probably don't even know of its existence.
Re: What Axl & Slash would sound like in 2010
Not that I know of. It was apart of the iTunes-release of the album, but that's about it.
I always just assumed it was a flat out BAD CALL on VR's part. They didn't think it was worthy, and yet it was the best thing to come out of the Libertad sessions.
