Re: Chinese Democracy now $1.99
No it wouldn't. No Axl = no interest. DJ can promote it all he wants, he can release anything he wants. It's not going anywhere without Axl promoting it. CD barely went anywhere and it had years of pent up interest. Now DJ is going to run things and he's going to create interest? I don't think so.
We meant if DJ could call the shots, that meaning Axl playing ball.
No one was claiming DJ could pull this band further without Axl.

Thanks faldor and DCK.
Buzz, under that theory, Axl would REMAIN the face. Remain the main man. Remain the guy doing the interviews and representing on a public level.
It would be DJ doing the organization, making the decisions and whispering in Axl's ear where to go, what to do.
DJ would also be the middle man with the label, not Axl.
But on a public level - Axl would still be Guns N' Roses.
Re: Chinese Democracy now $1.99
If DJ was boss, we would have 3 albums, a GNR beer, GNR bedposts and GNR lamps by now.
And I'd buy it all.
Hell yeah!
Fuck it! We should start a viral-internet-thing, like those South Americans did regarding getting GNR to Rock In Rio. That worked!
Someone get on that, I want my GNR-beer!!!
Re: Chinese Democracy now $1.99
If he went indie, it's just a matter of setting up a simple online store package your album(s) in multiple ways with extra stuff.
Oh really? They still haven't done that and it's been years. Simple my ass. Simple for other bands yes, but not GNR.
My point still stands.

Wasn't there something with MLB that has prevented the launch of a fully functioning website? Some will prolly cry "excuses, ecxuses!!". I tend to believe there's something to it.
When truly independent, setting things up like I described IS EASY!
When music is ready for release, Axl could just tell DJ or Jarmo (or both) "This and that are ready, set that shit up and pimp the fuck out of it!!
Even you James would be back in the happy-GNR-fan camp!!
Re: Chinese Democracy now $1.99
Yeah the dumbasses, along with Merck, negotiated a deal to run the GN'R website through MLB.com's system and web people exclusively.
So anything and everything that they might or might want to put up there, has to be ran through them first.
Why would MLB.com care?
They're more concerned with keeping up the Seattle Mariners webpage than GNR's.
