Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD

They are going to do an autopsy today.   It's being reported that he gave an interview to the NYTimes, that the role of the Joker really disturbed him and he was having trouble sleeping.  That one Ambien did not work, only slept an hour so it looks as tho he might have taken way to many combined with the fact they are reporting that he had Pnuemonia so speculation is if he took the sleeping pills with Pnuemonia, it could have caused him to go into cardiac arrest because the Ambien slows down your breathing and if your lungs are already compromised, it could be fatal.

I guess we'll see when they give us the results.   I feel terrible for Michelle Williams.

Oscars are gonna be hard to watch now. When they do that memorial tribute thing like they do every year, I'm sure the outpouring will be overwhelming from the crowd. I'm still shaking my head/almost crying each time I think about the fact that he's actually dead. Still in denial I guess.

You were the first person on this board that I thought about when I heard the news.  I always liked your choice of avatar as I think that Ledger's role as the Joker may end up being the best villian we've yet to see in any of the superhero movies.  I love the idea of a deformed Joker rather than the usual cheesey take on the character.  This will be much more in line with Batman and his "Dark Knight" roots.  Really looking forward to this film and this version of the Joker is one of the reasons.  I had heard awhile back that Heath's performance may be Oscar worthy, I hope he still gets it but I hate that it may come post mortum.  Even worse is the critics who will (if Ledger wins) inevitably say he won it due to his unfortunate demise.  We lost a good actor in Heath and there aren't many at his level of skill unfortunately.  I think James said somewhere that he was this generations River Phoenix and I think that is a very accurate statement.

Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD

Heath's parents give a statement in Australia

Heath Ledger's father, Kim Ledger, flanked by his family, released a statement on Australian television.

We, Heath's family, confirm, the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time.

We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.

He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our families need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately.

Also about the pills strewn all over the bed as first reported, here is the latest on that

There have been numerous reports suggesting that Ledger took his own life by ingesting a boatload of pills. Contrary to initial reports, the pills that were "scattered" around Ledger's apartment were actually in containers. We're told the containers were not littering the apartment. Rather, some were in the medicine cabinet and some in other rooms. As we reported, one container was on Ledger's nightstand. Cops found sleeping pills and an anti-anxiety drug in the bedroom.

A rep for the family tells TMZ that detectives have been in touch with Ledger's next of kin and the cops told them that so far there is no evidence suggesting suicide. Of course, until the toxicology reports come in, no one knows for sure.

A well-connected source in the NYPD told us this morning the "operating theory" right now within the department is that it was an accidental death, not suicide.

It's unclear if Ledger's health was a factor. As we first reported, he had pneumonia at the time of his death.

Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD

Breaking news on ch. 2, it is being reported that police found a 20 dollar bill with narcotics residue on it.

also

An autopsy on Heath Ledger was inconclusive this morning, pending toxicology results.

The New York Medical Examiner's office tells TMZ it will take anywhere between ten days and two weeks to obtain test results. As TMZ first reported, the death appears to have been accidental.

This is being reported everywhere.

So he didn't have a heart defect, he didn't have massive fluid in his lungs due to pneumonia.   Hmmm...not good for accidental. sad

Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD

Ok, it comes from Perez, but here goes anyway :

His death may not have been a suicide, but drugs - not just sleeping pills - more likely than not also played a part in the untimely passing of Heath Ledger.

WCBS in New York is reporting that drug packets were found inside the actor's SoHo Apartment, as well as a $20 bill with narcotic residue.

Several drug packets containing an unknown substance were found listed on the official police report from the scene.

It is possible that these items didn't belong to Ledger or that he didn't ingest them on the day of his death, but several reports have stated that Heath had been battling sobriety recently.

In addition to the unknown substances, several bottles of prescription meds were discovered in Ledger's apartment, including bottles of the prescription anxiety drugs Valium and Zoloft, along with the prescription sleeping medication Ambien.

This might be another Anna Nicole Smith.

Kids, drugs and abusing prescription meds are bad. Don't do them! BUT, if you are, and you shouldn't, then don't mix them!!!

When I said not looking accidential I ment more looking like an overdose of drugs, not the accidential overdose of sleeping pills not suicide.  I should have been more specific, sure one doesn't want to die of their drug of choice either, what I meant was the sleeping pill theory.  Although I am sure that's going to be in his system.

I heard the first report on this when it broke and CNN wasn't reporting anything, after that, the news was reporting that the NYPD was deeming it an accidental death.

Ofcourse suicide is going to be mentioned as speculation how can it not.   But I watched all of Nancy Grace on it last night and no one mentioned Suicide.

Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD

What exactly did he warn him? You might die if you play the Joker? Knobhead.

If you read the wikipedia page about Dark Knight Nicholson made some very bitter comments when he wasn't asked either to play or advise on who to cast as Joker. I hope Ledger absolutley dicks on Nicholsons performance now, might shut the arrogant prick up a bit.
