Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD
If his family is in Australia, I would imagine thats where he will be buried.
I need to watch Brokeback Mountain. Avoided it for too long. Not a big fan of gay films, although I do like Torch Song Trilogy, 2 Girls in Love, and the Birdcage was hilarious. Cruising is an interesting film, but haven't watched that in years.

His dad, mom, and sister made a statement to the press in Australia earlier so yes, they are in Australia. He, his daughter, and his ex-girlfriend live in the U.S. but I would not be surprised if he's buried in Australia. He was a very private person so it seems to me that Australia offers a much more private scenario for his family to grieve than the U.S. The press coverage over here is intrusive and pretty offensive in my opinion.
Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD
First off, RIP Mr Ledger. We would've gladly kept you in our midst for a good while still.
As a sidenote, it'll be interesting to see how the ad campaigns of The Dark Knight will be affected by this unfortunate event. Already it's providing the late Ledger with an eerie and slightly ironic epitah. Yes, Brandon Lee and River Pheonix both crossed my mind upon hearing this. I understand his Joker role is something to behold, and his portrayal might very well make the character unmountable for another actor for many years into the future.
If Ledger is as good as they say he is, he'll no doubt be remembered. A posthumous Oscar for the best supporting actor sounds a bit tacky, but if it does happen, you heard it here first.

Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD
It doesn't sound tacky to me at all. People always try to talk shit about so-called popcorn films, but great acting is great acting. Heath, by all accounts so far including from the 7 minutes of footage I have seen (2 minute trailer + 5 minute prologue) has put forth an incredible effort. As a supporting role, it will STEAL the show like Javier Bardem did with No Country For Old Men. Why is it that playing a psychopath that steals the show in a "serious" Oscar type movie gets you a LOCK for the award but playing the exact same role, if not an even more impressive one, gets you made fun of by all the snobs in Hollywood? Seriously, Bardem's role was fantastic, but I see no reason why it's much different from the Heath Joker because it really isn't. In fact, Bardem's character steals some from Two-Face believe it or not (the coin flip).

Question is: Is ADR work on Batman finished? Just cos they finished shooting doesn't mean they didn't still need him.....

Ledger said he was done with it in an interview, though "it" could only mean filming, I'm not sure. The interviewer did not specifically ask him. He brought it up on his own. Anyway, I figure they've got enough of it to finish the movie. The real challenge will be working on putting the footage and dialogue together from an emotional standpoint. I don't think I could work on something like that. I'd out-source it to another production company to finish it.

I'm wondering about all this as well. Like I mentioned in either this thread or the Batman thread, just because Ledger was working on another film does not mean he was completely finished with this project.
Hell, Zombie did reshoots for Halloween weeks before it was released. Imagine if Scout had died before that was able to happen.
Technology is so great now they can just use a digital Ledger and a computerized voice.
Barring World War III or a Depression, this Ledger/Dark Knight/Batman thing is gonna be one of the biggest stories of 2008.

Because most mainstream movies play their psychokillers considerably safer than their independent counterparts. Try being hardcore when you get test screenings, target audiences, a major summer release date, a big marketing campaign and the toy companies knocking your door down and my hat goes off to you. With the indies, the creative margin is wider by default, as they won't have to care less about the lowest common denominator. Therefore, it's their psychokillers that really push the envelope and make people squirm.
As for Ledger, I wasn't questioning his acting. I have in fact high hopes for The Dark Knight, as I was pleasantly surprised by Batman Begins. His Joker I do think will rise above the heap of unimpressive comic book villains and could very well be as good (or 'bad') as the movie machine surrounding him allows. What I meant with tacky was that he might now be getting a token Oscar because of his untimely death; Hollywood might give it to him motivated by guilt, instead of his (quite possibly stellar) performance.

No way. We need to see the vision how it was intended. I don't want a bunch of hacks fucking this up.
If the film needs to be delayed for this thing to take shape, then it should be delayed.

Re: HEATH LEDGER DEAD
The body count in the prologue is pretty high and it's only 5 minutes long. And the disturbing part is he uses his own hired goons to take EACH OTHER out by promising each of them a larger piece of the pie. I have no doubt that although the blood and language won't be offensive, the Joker's actual deeds will be just as evil as Bardem's in No Country.
