It's funny, people dig what they dig. Nearly everyone I know hate (the original lineup) GNR. So, needless to say, CD was never something I really talked about outside the boards. But they like CD. Mostly because of Tommy, Brain and Buckethead, but they really dig the new music... Can't really say they dig the band at this point.

Another reason it pisses me off that CD wasn't released in 2002-2003. What a blown opportunity. Everything about that 02 period/tour, from Axl's voice, how he dressed, to his performances, showed me that Axl didn't give a shit, wasn't ready to do anything, didn't want to be there, was only there for either the money or keeping the band together, since that seemed to be Robin's and Bucket's biggest problem with Axl. Idleness. From everything I read about them, they were all initially really excited about GNR. What a blown opportunity.

What kind of weird ass friends do you have? Rap fans?

I've never met anyone who didn't like old Guns. I've met people who didn't 'love' old Guns, and people who thought they were 'overrated', but never met anyone who hated the real GN'R.

Even diehard Cobain nutswingers and Nirvana douche bag fans, still pretty much confessed AFD kicked all kinds of ass.

That's shocking. I'm not wanting to bag on your friends/family, but friggin' jesus, if you don't at least like SCOM, you've gotta be fuckin' tone deaf.

Well, when I was in college at Georgia from 85 to 89, tons of people hated Gnr...with a passion. Now, tons secretly loved them too...especially the ladies after SCOM and Patience blew up. But, they were loathed in a lot of circles.

I hated GNR when they first hit the scene for about 5 minutes because my older sister liked them.  I didn't think it was cool to like anything she did.  So instead I listened to crap like New Kids on the Block (go easy on me, I was 9).  She warned me how much they sucked, but I didn't want to believe her.  I soon figured it out for myself though and GNR became my favorite band around the time she took off for college.  With her out of the house, it was now okay to like GNR, plus I don't think she was as big a fan by that time.

Original GNR gets more artistic credit now than they did when they first broke. We were really into Alt rock back then. I was just as big of a fan of Dead Milkmen as I was GNR when AFD came out. Not a lot of people shared that. It pisses me off, but a lot of people did and still do write them off as a hair band. Or rednecks. That was a BIG thing, the scummy redneck part.

I even saw a bumper sticker back then that said, "Guns N' Roses are proof that rednecks like gay music."

And it has nothing to do with Nirvana. During the GNR/Metallica tour I knew people who went just to see Faith No More. And the horn section didn't do them any favors.

You're right, a lot of people I knew dug SCOM and Patinece, mostly the girls.

GUNS ‘N ROSES – CHINESE DEMOCRACY
Last week: 3,158

3,158 people paid $1.99 for this Best Buy dust bunny last week… which means Best Buy is exactly $6,284.42 closer to recouping the $14 million they spent on purchasing 1.6 million copies of this bad boy in 2008. Congrats! Baby steps.

It's has to do with certain parts of the U.S., or possibly globe i'm guessing.

Guns N' Roses were revered where I was from, because of the scummy redneck thing. That Farm Aid appearence pretty much cemented that they were rock gods.

I'm guessing there weren't alot of Skynyrd or Metallica fans in your bunch either.

Metallica, yes. Until the reLoad album. Skynyrd not so much. I like LS, to a point. Some if it's just goofy redneck shit.

I think we're from the same place though, right? Central Florida? Alt Rock was huge there, when I was growing up.

Good enough to re-enter the Billboard top 200, BARELY, at #199.

It's also #22 on the Catalog Albums chart, one spot ahead of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".

It's something, I guess.  Honestly, if Best Buy made it more aware that it was $1.99 it might do even better.  A hand made sign in aisle stating it's $1.99 perhaps?  Too much to ask?  Nobody has cared about this album from the start though, so why start now?
