That's why I NEVER listen to terrestrial radio anymore.  Satellite is the way to go.  The DJ's are much less annoying and have much less air time.

It's not free, though.

The problem with terrestrial radio DJ's, especially rock DJ's, is they sound so fuckin' manufactured by program directors. No soul at all, no balls.

They think just getting on and talking about how fuckin' drunk they got over the weekend before they spin Fly From The Inside for the 37th time for the day makes them so ballsy rock n' roll DJ. Just STFU. I could care the fuck less that some slut DJ is gonna throw on a leopard skin mini-skirt and sign autographs out at "Big 'Uns Showgirls" this weekend.

Balls would be showing up to work late in a gold velvet jacket and a tattered sequin dress shirt, 'cause you haven't slept in a week-long coke bender and just fucked two interns in the copy room, then when your boss demands you play Save Me, you tell him to fuck off and play The Mob Rules.

Now that's how it's done.

Those guys are long gone man. Where is Tommy The Nightmare when you need him.

True, and if it weren't for Stern, I probably wouldn't have paid for satellite radio to begin with.  But, if and when Stern retires I can't see myself returning to terrestrial radio.  The DJ's, endless commercials.  It's just too much for me.  I'd rather listen to CD's, iPods, etc. then the crap they spew.

I got my first review from one of my free CD handouts last night.  While it's not glowing, I do think it can be viewed as positive.

So my buddy who I gave the CD to was driving a couple of co-workers around and one of them noticed the CD.  He said to my friend, "tell me you didn't buy this?"  My buddy explained how I bought it for $2 and gave it to him, so the guy seemed alright with that and said they might as well give it a shot.  So they threw it in and listened for the remainder of their drive, about 30 minutes worth.  And the consensus was that it was "not that bad".

So again, not a glowing review.  But the guy went from seeing the CD as an embarrassment, to "not that bad".  I'll take it.  Baby steps, right?  Now instead of telling people that new GNR sucks without actually hearing them, he can now say, "they're not that bad".  Hey, I've heard much worse, so I view it as a positive.

Thanks.  I don't know if I'd quite call it a mission.  Though I do feel at times, that I've (and many other fans of the album) have pushed this thing more than the band themselves.  I bought a copy for a friend and my brother in law when it first came out.  Never really heard anything from my brother in law about it, though I did see that the CD at least made its way into his car and had been opened up.  My friend seemed to like it at first and was giving me her review of each song.  The first four were very positive, but then she stopped, and we really don't talk much anymore.

This last round of giveaways was to close friends who have gone, or would go to see GNR in concert.  So I figured, if that chance ever does arise here in the US, at least this would give them the option of getting to know the new material.  I've flooded them with e-mails and youtube clips, but I'm sure 95% of them delete them upon receipt.  I figure having the actual CD might sway them to actually listen to it sometime.

It's funny, people dig what they dig. Nearly everyone I know hate (the original lineup) GNR. So, needless to say, CD was never something I really talked about outside the boards. But they like CD. Mostly because of Tommy, Brain and Buckethead, but they really dig the new music... Can't really say they dig the band at this point.

Another reason it pisses me off that CD wasn't released in 2002-2003. What a blown opportunity. Everything about that 02 period/tour, from Axl's voice, how he dressed, to his performances, showed me that Axl didn't give a shit, wasn't ready to do anything, didn't want to be there, was only there for either the money or keeping the band together, since that seemed to be Robin's and Bucket's biggest problem with Axl. Idleness. From everything I read about them, they were all initially really excited about GNR. What a blown opportunity.
