Re: QUEEN Guitarist: 'People Think Of AXL ROSE As Difficult But He Was Alw
Better is (IMO) the best rocker Guns N' Roses has ever produced.
I dont agree totally. I think it's one the better GNR songs from any era. Axl's vocal melodies are sexy but as for best ever? I just dont know.

Easily one of the best GN'R songs ever in my opinion. Rocker or otherwise. I love that song.
Definitely some of my favorite GN'R songs ever, besides "Better", are from CD.

Better's good but it's not in the same league as Jungle or YCBM for me.

I agree that Better is the best rocker that the new band produced, but ever? The original band had way too many kickass rockers to even compete.

Better was a lot better before Pittman crapped all over it.
AND Ron.
The best version of better IMO is the first leak from 2006

Axlin08 wrote:Axl worked on CD for how long, and he still didn't have a Sucker Train Blues or Slither in his pocket. Half of Izzy's catalog are better rockers than what CD has got. Look at Tommy... how quick did it take him with Rich & Dizzy to whip up "One Man Mutiny"? It'd of taken Axl years to approve a song like that, which destroys any rocker on CD.
Are you classifying "One Man Mutiny" as a rocker?
Not sure what you're going for there.
I think the rockers on CD are just fine. Nothing monumental, but they do the trick for me.
I agree the wording of that post was a bit off. My point was to say that One Man Mutiny is a stripped down, ballad and is still better than any rocker on CD.
The rockers on CD are it's weakest point. I can't even believe that's even in question.
I don't think anything on the album is flat out bad, but the people that bag on Get In The Ring & Shotgun Blues & Garden of Eden, yet beat off to Riad N' The Bedouins, Scraped and I.R.S. - wtf?
There is absolutely NO rocker from the new Guns era, including the very good and underappreciated Oh My God... that can even come close to a top-shelf old GN'R rocker. The B-sides only probably equal out.
The rockers on CD for me are just 'okay'.
CD has rockers?
One man mutiny a rocker?
See above, kind of bad wording on my part.

Agreed. I see why others disagree but for me, Better is the single greatest song they ever recorded followed closely by WttJ
LMFAO
You have got to be joking. Better is better than Welcome To The Jungle, if you say that in public, I can't believe they haven't called the guys with butterfly nets and put you under 72 hour observation.
I can see the argument for some of the ballads on CD, but the rockers just ain't that good. When the album first came out, I was some what impressed, but after a little over 2 years... they've wore out their welcome. They're simply okay.
Old Guns rockers destroy them, VR rockers destroy them, Izzy solo rockers destroy them. Notice I didn't say Snakepit or Loaded - now that's a case where CD rockers kick ass.

Agreed, flat out. To this day, my absolute favorite and the mother fucking pinnacle of the song Better were those 2006 live performances where Axl's voice was on fire, Robin & Ron playing it just like a straight-forward rocker.
When I heard it live in 2006, I was blown the fuck away by it. The studio version is a god damn joke.
