Do CBS and Les Moonves Want Charlie Sheen Back?
News by Kate Wharmby Seldman
(1 Day Ago) in Entertainment / TV

CBS is desperate to get Charlie Sheen back on “Two and a Half Men,” according to a report on gossip site Radar Online.

Les Moonves, CBS' president and CEO, wants Warner Bros. Television to help him put the show back together - and get Charlie back. Warner Bros. is the company that produces "Two and a Half Men," while CBS is the station that broadcasts it.

Moonves is also talking to Chuck Lorre, the creator of the show.

A source quoted by Radar Online says, "Moonves wants to get the show back on the air. He's all for it. He says certain people need to forget anything and everything Charlie's done recently and just move on with the business at hand.”

"The core issue is, as he put it, the volatile relationship between Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre. He believes that if CBS and Warner Bros. TV honchos can find a way to get Chuck and Charlie to speak again, cooler heads will prevail."

Warner and CBS fired Sheen earlier this month, and there was talk that the show would be canceled, a replacement actor would be found for Sheen's part, or the show would be rewritten to account for Sheen's absence.

Sheen is about to go out on a speaking tour, which has 20 dates and is completely sold out. He's also filed a $100 million lawsuit against Lorre and Warner Bros. Television for firing him when he was contracted to work for another season.

Sheen has 20 concert dates planned, including one at New York's Radio City Music Hall where he will be a one man show. Every appearance is sold out.

Called it. I knew that they'd take some time, the situation would cool, they'd ask around for a replacement (Stamos & Lowe), and realize that Charlie Sheen is irreplaceable on Men. He's the straight guy. The show and it's funny side characters don't work if they don't have Charlie to play off of. Same thing with Michael J. Fox/Sheen on Spin City. Same thing with Ron Howard on Happy Days. Ray Romano on Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.

Men can't go on without Charlie, and they're finally realizing it. It was a terribly fucking stupid decision to fire Charlie. It was the equivalent of putting a gun to the head of your biggest business enterprise in syndication, and blowing it's brains out for nothing. It isn't like Charlie can't work.

Warner Bros. TV & CBS are still committed to a 9th & 10th season of Men and their syndication advertisers, which Charlie makes money off of whether he's on the show or not, due to his previous deal. Men still is CBS highest-rated sitcom, even in reruns. So why not bring Charlie back to the table? It was stupid to let him go to begin with, and a horrible business decision.

What blows my mind is how Les Moonves let a PRODUCER (Lorre) derail a huge business enterprise based on Lorre's ego. I thought CBS was a business? It made more business-sense for Warner to fire Lorre, not Sheen, if anyone needed terminating. CBS had to be pissed at WB's decision.

You watch, Sheen's contract was killed when he was terminated. He was already making $2mil per episode. You watch, he's gonna walk right back into Men after ALL OF THIS and will have a RAISE!

Winning! BLS said it, Sheen's gonna laugh all the way to the bank with this, before it even got this big, and he's gonna be right. Those concert shows are gonna be HUGE money for Sheen, he's gonna be back on Men with a raise, and I read an article the other day that said that Sheen's gonna pull in $7mil just for one month of work on his live shows.

If the other networks were smart, they'd sign Charlie as quick as they can, develop a similar show (but not enough to warrant a lawsuit), and put it on Monday's at 9 in direct competition with with the new Men on CBS.

It'd be the "new" Monday Night Wars (Nitro & Raw) 14

Honest to god, I can't believe the world isn't tired of this guy yet.

I actually have tired of it after being REAL interested the first week.  But yeah, he's still WINNING!  And big time.  His tour is selling out EVERYWHERE within minutes.  CBS might want him back.  Mark Cuban wants to do something with him.  He certainly doesn't seem to be slowly killing his career, or himself, like everyone wanted to believe.

The danger now is overexposing himself and flaming people out fast.

The best thing he can do is focus on his shows next month, and NOT do TV appearences.

It'll keep the mystique & hype going.

I agree.  I'm as interested as anyone else in this whole clusterfuck, but I have this feeling that his show is going to be horrible.   He better be prepared, b/c if all it is, is him onstage rambling...its going to fail.
