New Nikki Sixx-Cover Issue Out Everywhere Today!!!
The new issue of Revolver hits newsstands everywhere today. You can also buy it online here. Nikki Sixx, the iconic bassist of Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M., pulls no punches on the cover, and inside, he comes clean on his latest tell-all book, the new Sixx:A.M. album, Crüe’s 30th anniversary, his relationship with Kat Von D, his photography, and much more. The No. 1 most added rock song in its first week, Sixx:A.M.’s “Lies Of The Beautiful People,” is available on iTunes and is the first single from the upcoming album, This Is Gonna Hurt, which is out on May 3. Sixx’s new book, of the same title, will be released on April 12.
Anyway, in the March/April 2011 edition of Revolver magazine there is a very cool article and interview about Nikki Sixx and Sixx A.M. The article talks about the other members of Sixx A.M. It does not state when the interview was conducted. Ashba says some pretty interesting things about future plans of GN'R.
Here is what it says.
Since completing the album (This is Gonna Hurt....Sixx A.M.'s new album), the band mates have plenty of work to return to. So what's up with Ashba's other band? "GN'R are getting ready to work on new stuff," the guitarist says. "Everybody says, 'Oh, Chinese Democracy took 15 years.' What they don't realize is that there are about four records just sitting there-tons of material already recorded. We're gonna start sifting through that and writing new shit. I've already written a bunch of stuff I'm gonna run past Axl. And we're making plans on touring the U.S., but nothing's in stone."

So lets see, Baz and DJ both confirm there are like 3-4 cds worth of songs but Axl only claims there was two? LOL

DJ has NO CLUE what he is doing right now.
It just doesn't work that way man. He could spend months writing stuff, walk in the door and have Axl throw every bit of it out in seconds. Not to mention, just because Axl approves some of it, doesn't mean he won't turn around and sit on it for years, before even dusting it off.
Axl can't even get his fuckin' vault out the door, let alone new shit, although knowing DJ's stuff with Sixx:AM, and that bitchin' single from Bumble coming up, they do have some chops potentially to write some good shit. So I feel a bit better about the creativity of the 2010 band than I used to. That's not counting what Tommy & Axl can bring.
I'd love to see the current band get from the vault what they want to redo, rearrange it, write some new stuff, and get it out there, and then just turn around one day in some down time and release the vault as 'lost sessions' in a box set, NIN-style.
It's pointless to keep re-recording Buckethead songs when he hasn't even been in the band for seven years. It's time to move on, if we're gonna move on. Otherwise reunite. You can't tour AFD & CD for decades on end.

i believe not even Axl has a clue what he/GnR are doing right now.
the choices are obv but he's just incapable of making that decision right now. he'll probably settle on a happy medium/compromise & the next album (IF there is a next album) will be a mix of old Bucket/Finck stuff & the new band. but it doesn't look like he's got a plan or is going to make a plan any time soon.
does anyone know what Axl's schedule is these days? before CD's release people could at least say he was working around the clock. but with a wealth of material sitting in the vault & no indication he's willing to write new material with the new guitarists all i can figure is he's sitting around shooting the shit with Del & Fernando, maybe playing a bit of Xbox/PS3, calling in some hookers n blow.. sounds like a nice enough life tbpfh..

There's nothing wrong with this. Making some riffs and song ideas and handing them over is basically the way Axl works. He's got a lot more chance of getting his stuff recorded than waiting around for everyone to get in the same room and start writing.

Just wanted to throw out there that Axl will never be able to record an album the way he did Chinese Democracy again.

From what I recall Axl didn't exactly shoot down the talk of 3-4 albums worth of material, in fact he's even hinted at it himself in the past. What he said was that there weren't 3 to 4 albums worth of material READY FOR RELEASE. He said that they were concentrating on the ONE (CD) for the time being.
With that being said, I agree that I wouldn't expect to see 3 more albums come out in a short time period, if ever.
