2006 Axl was awesome! When you look back he was in great shape, quite muscular and had great cardiovascular ability, those high notes he used to hold forever where amazing 
2006 WTTJ blew the 2010 version out the water, Axl sounded kinda like he was playing around on a karaoke sometimes when he was singing it last year. 2006 he sung it like he was strutting out the bowels of hell.
He was fucking awesome in 2010 as well though, I'm not knocking him cause overall his performances were absolutely outstanding, I just preferred that version of Jungle, it was fuckin killer.

Those videos are awesome. I thought he sounded phenomenal at the 2010 Dublin gig, possibly due to the standing in one position vibe he had going on.

Nothing is "wrong" with Ax's look.

I think he wears those little loafer/sneaker type shoes, but i've seen him in boots.
2006 Axl looked cool. Now... He kind of looks like a truck driver. I don't like the new look, mostly because it's what the rumored Axl everyone thought would show up in 2000 would look like...
Axl looks more like a biker guy. Freddie Mercury was the one that had the thing for the truck driver look. 
Even still, Axl Rose was a bad ass rocker, with a southern rock vibe. The Stones, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Grand Funk Railroad, all big influences, and Axl fronted a hard rock band with a blues rock base. Maybe not in the present, but definitely in the past.
I think Axl looks precisely the role in 2010, that he should look. He's Axl Rose.
When he looked out of place and like a fool was dressing like a hip hop star in 2002, although having seen him personally, he did have a pretty bad ass look in 2006, and the cornrows worked.
I just thought he looked even better in 2010, even if he did gain a bit of weight from 2006. Don't care, the man is 49 and looks exactly like he should, if not a little younger still.

You know what it is, Axl has the look of a heavy drinker now. He looks pretty swollen, bloated. In his face and chest especially. He's getting gassed easily again, like in 02 and can't maintain the notes.
He needs to get his 06 stylist back
