HarperCollins is tentatively scheduled to release "Sweet Child Of Mine: How I Lost My Son to Guns N' Roses" (formerly "No Bed Of Roses"), the much-anticipated tell-all book from Deanna Adler — the mother of original GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler — On November 1, 2011.

Deanna Adler appeared on the second season of "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew", on which Steven was a cast member. During the season's episode five, Dr. Drew, Dr. Sophy and Steven sat down for a meeting with Deanna in a what was described as "a tense whirlwind of accusations, denials and resentment. Steven is so flustered that he storms out of the room, leaving the many issues between he and Deanna unresolved, possibly forever."

Having been kicked out of his mother's house on numerous occasions before he was old enough to vote, Steven Adler reportedly started skipping school and doing drugs when he was 11.
Steven Adler was the drummer for GUNS N' ROSES from 1985 to 1990. He was eventually fired from the band due to his drug addiction, which caused him to spiral down into depression and more drug use.
Steven Adler's autobiography, "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses", came out in July 2010. In the book, Adler tells all, fearlessly addressing his struggles with heroin and crack addiction; his financial ruin after being kicked out of GN'R; his shattered marriage; and the severe health problems that nearly claimed his life on several occasions.

Why would anyone want to read (let alone pay money for) a book by Steven Adler's mother? No offense to her, but she had no actual contact with the band during that time, she was never part of it in any way and most everything she would know about the band has already come out in interviews and Steven's book.
I highly doubt she "lost her son to Guns N Roses", seeing as he was only in the band for 5 years and has stated he did drugs way back into his early teens. I guess having them to blame would make for a good premise, but I doubt it's fact.
Maybe she can give some insight into how she gambled away all Steven's money when he was in a coma, but thats about it as far as interesting goes.

I just finished Adlers book yesterday. I will be picking up this book for her perspective on the situation, not so much for the GnR dirt.
Mom has been set up in Stevens book and with the same ghostwriter the 2 books go together imho.
She lost her son to Gramma, girls, drums, drugs, and everything else he could do to fuck up his life. The title is only to sell the book imo. I ask how many of you feel love and hate for a parent at the same time?
Pick up the books for an interesting story thats in the least related to your favorite band.

Not sure how holding someone responsible for the way they treat their son is "Gnreducating" but ok. I guess thats the best you can do.
Do you make multiple posts in every thread about Axl's love ballads that he's a woman beater?

like Jamster I'll check this out to get another perspective to the way steven describes things in his book. I'm a fan of steve's drumming - but he was a junkie for most of the time that book was about - and it would be good to see the other side of it.
Regarding "lossing her son to guns n roses". Well it's obvious he already had problems, but GNR royalities no doubt financed much of his abuse, and 'falling' from super stardom and the subsequent desire/longing to be back in the band and back to those days mixed with some self loathing for what he did to himself/became were probably factors.
I mean i'm no shrink...but that would be hard to deal with - it's not that she lost her son to GNR - but it's unquestionable GNR is a massive thing to have happened in any persons life - and it would totaly alter the situation for evermore.
I'll pick up this book - i take ppp's point though that it's liekly she only re-took an interest in him when he got cash...but I like to get every person's version of what happened and the backstories.
