Re: Slash @ Soundwave Festival Australia!
Yeah i'm starting to come to that too.
Although i've done a bit of both in the last year and been ok at other events....it was really the type of crowd this was I think. Like a lot of the kids seemed to be into slam dancing/pushing each other around simply for the sake of it - whereas most of the 'moshing' at other slash type gigs i've been to has been either to get closer to the front - ala squashing or just jumping to the music - this was turning more into the "I push you, then you pick me up and throw me over toward them" kind...which is yoo brutal for an old man like me

Re: Slash @ Soundwave Festival Australia!
Slash at soundwave kicked fucken ass. Yes I'm drunk and only just got home!
Awesome! Did you get up the front?
Re: Slash @ Soundwave Festival Australia!
Didn't get right to the front but got up pretty close on his side of the stage so I had a great view. He seemed to get a pretty good reaction from the crowd, there was big singalongs with Sweet Child and Paradise City.
He threw Brownstone and My Michelle in there, the rest was pretty much like the other sets. Again shame being a festival he only has about 50 mins to play.
One stupid thing for the day was they had Slayer on one of the smaller stages and it was pathetic, you couldn't get near the bloody thing. Don't know which bright spark did that piece of scheduling.

Re: Slash @ Soundwave Festival Australia!
Yeah a lot of the scheduling seemed odd this year.
Its my first time going to soundwave this year, but a number of people I spoke to felt it's getting too big for it's own good - like too many conflicts, lines are too long etc. That it's become about quanity not quality of experience for the punter.
Be interesting to see what this Soundwave revolution thing they're promoting turns out to be.
we've been so spoiled for slash/gnr content in australia over the last year or so...now the evil wait begins for the next tours...could be a while.

Re: Slash @ Soundwave Festival Australia!
Here's some pics and a review of the Melbourne show from Aussie radio station Tripple M:
Soundwave is classified as a music festival but some of the punters’ hairstyles (with no shortage of mullets and mohawks) gave it more of a circus-type atmosphere at times.
However, while most circuses have a big top, it was the iconic top hat of the one and only Slash that sent the hordes into raptures.
Just seven months after visiting this fair city and blowing Festival Hall away with a truly memorable show, Slash returned with Myles Kennedy and the same travelling band to deliver a blistering 50-minute set on Stage 2.
From the moment the first notes of opener ‘Ghost’ were played, fans simply couldn’t get enough – including a rather overzealous young woman who felt the urge to expose her mammary glands while sitting on someone’s shoulders.
Set: Ghost, Mean Bone, Nightrain, Back From Cali, Nothing To Say, Mr Brownstone, My Michelle, Sweet Child O' Mine, Slither, Paradise City.
