The whole thing is terrible. Maybe a return to the original sound "might" help. I was just dumbfounded at Skid Row after Slave. Maybe they had all of this greatness in them, blew their load with the first two albums, and that was it.
I was just always shocked how quickly Snake Sabo & Rachel Bolan went from writing such great songs on Slave - to mediocrity with Subhuman Race - to absolute drink coasters.
When even your diehard fans go "this is absolute shit", that might be the time to check yourself at the door.
