IT wasn't just a new movie former Neighbours starlet Nicky Whelan got to premiere last night, she debuted her latest love - Guns n' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba.
At the red carpet opening of crass comedy Hall Pass, headed by Hollywood funny man Owen Wilson, the renowned men's mag cover girl revealed her rocker boyfriend of six months.
"We met through mutual friends and it's been on ever since," she told Confidential on the Fox Studios ruby rug.
The guitarist, real name Darren Jay Ashba, said he gave Whelan a pig for Valentine's Day, which they called Crackle. "We did have a pet tarantula and I had to get rid of my snake when I left Australia," Whelan added.
Wearing a frock from Dannii Minogue's Project D, Whelan, who previously dated US comedian David Spade, said working with director duo, the Farrelly brothers Peter and Bob, and Wilson was "so comfortable".

Nicky Whelan (born June 10, 1981) is an Australian actress and model best known for her role as Pepper Steiger in the Australian television series Neighbours. She is the granddaughter of AFL Brownlow Medallist Marcus Whelan.

Before Neighbours, Whelan hosted a number of shows, including Coxy's Big Break (Seven Network), Beyond the Boundary (Network Ten), Melbourne Woman (Seven Network), and played the fictional celebrity "Chrissie Grant" on Russell Coight's Celebrity Challenge, a spin-off of All Aussie Adventures.
Whelan is also known as the face of the rural Victorian city, Shepparton, and she also hosted the night racing at Moonee Valley for eight years.
Whelan has also posed for a number of Australian magazines, including FHM (in October 2007), Ralph (in November 2005) and Inside Sport.[1] She was the first model to be on the cover of the Pumped Up Down Under calendar two years running.[citation needed] She was voted sports model of the year 2001 and 2007.
In November 2007, Whelan made a special appearance in Harrow, London to promote sustainable transport and initiatives that benefit the environment. She also shot some photos for Harrow's 'It's Up to All of Us' campaign.[2][3] At the event she confirmed that after Neighbours, she had been in discussions over feature films.
Whelan has completed work for the movie Hollywood and Wine in Los Angeles. She costarred with David Spade.[4]
Whelan appeared in the final season of Scrubs as Maya, an Australian medical school student.[5]
Whelan is also playing a role in the 2011 film, Hall Pass, with co-star Owen Wilson and Christina Applegate.

Gotta say her name only vaguely rings a bell for me.
I recall now seeing her in the hotel lobby with DJ when Guns was here. At the time I just thought she was a bit of touring crumpet for him.
