Re: Buying a new guitar, need help!
I started filing on a never played magnum BB 2 p-up LP copy wen I got it the finger board was coming unglued. the nut was broke. came with no strings and real cheap at the pawnshop. I had nothing to lose. And yep i dug into the inlays and everything on first fret. after 20 or so of um you get the hang of it.=D
THat guitar has half an inch of dust on it currently im surfing ebay lookin for some slash p-ups, and one of the dj -lp covers, and some new volume pots and a kill switch, unless I find one of thoes DIY zakk reb flag kits
I feel you on the holdover but I hate pick guards and the way the P-up covers look. I think i would deal with it if it was a LP collector piece other than that resale has never been on my mind.

Re: Buying a new guitar, need help!
I'm thinking of buying a 12-string acoustic. Not looking to invest a lot of cash in it...any advice?
Yeah, I'm having the same plan. I really loved the Seagull I played once, but still have to find time to try out more 12 strings. Old 70s Ibanez and Cimar guitars are said to be good, and I have faith in Takamines, as I've played only good instruments by them. Anyone knows the EF 381SC?

whats "not alot of cash"?
you can prolly get a ovation, ibanez, dean, fender or epiphone prolly all between $300 and $500
i have a 6 string samick, i love it, dunno if they make 12 string or not though
Takamines sound great but thats up closer to $700

For that kind of cash, you really aren't gonna go too wrong. How long you been playing and what are you looking for? Just a 12-string to mess around with, or are you trying to start something up? Short cash, I'd go for it- you can always upgrade later.
