He was talking WORLDWIDE popularity. Elvis and The Beatles have each sold over a billion records worldwide while MJ has sold over 750 million worldwide. No one else is even close to those three.

He didn't say the Beatles and worldwide sales figures are questionable at best. I understand Elvis, MJ and The Beatles have sold the most worldwide. I was just throwing up US figures for the hell of it.

But, let me get this straight, you guys mock Axl for being more popular outside the US. However, we will quickly compliment Michael Jackson for being more popular outside the US. Whatever fits the agenda.....:peace:

I haven't mocked Axl for being more popular outside the U.S. Hell, I think it's very interesting that GN'R is one of the most popular music acts in the history of South America. Considering the language barrier, I think it's pretty cool that they were/are able to have that much love for an American hard rock band.

The most interesting thing to me about that RIAA list is Zeppelin. Everyone always talks about how popular the Stones are, but Zeppelin put out a lot less material and sold 70% more records in the U.S. That is incredible and a huge compliment to the quality of their music.

Guys, I only said MJ and ELVIS because they are "individuals" and "Axl" was in the discussion.  Not "GNR", so I only compared Axl to other individual music stars (Elvis and MJ).  If we were talking of impact/sales/popularity, then yes, I would have had the Beatles, AC/DC, the Eagles, and other top names on there.  My bad for the confusion.

Cool list but what if they were all alive , in there prime and playin detroit at the same time with kid rock ?

So you guys up there with that fancy list...now get the excact number of sales includindg single downloads....and find a formula to put it together ...then devide it by actual album releases.....that would be interesting to see.

Pushing 70 and still packing stadiums worldwide without a true hit record for 35 years, yeah, they're contenders alright.

Voodoo Lounge was most definitely a hit. Had good sales and a few hits. I'd also consider Keith's song Thru and Thru as one of the best songs in their discography.

If they are young and male, I bet he would have at least tried to touch them.

I'm a fan, but couldn't resist.

Would "they're too old for him to touch" have been a better response?
