MOTÖRHEAD frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister is featured in the video for the new new FOO FIGHTERS song "White Limo", which will appear on FOO's forthcoming album, due on April 12. You can now check out the clip below.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, the new FOO FIGHTERS single, called "Rope", won't arrive at rock radio stations until the morning of February 23, but Explore Music had a chance to preview the track. The site's Alan Cross wrote that the song sounds like "in a word, RUSH," adding, "The interplay between guitars, bass and drums could be an instrumental bit from (1977 RUSH album) 'A Farewell To Kings' or bits of 'La Villa Strangiato' from (1978's) 'Hemispheres', complete with multi-part drum breaks and quick shifts in time signature . . . It's certainly a very bold move for a first single."

Cross also says, "This is Dave (Grohl)'s call, too. Sure, they could have gone with a 'Learn To Fly'-style radio-friendly first single, but Dave overruled that, insisting that they go with 'Rope' because it better captures the vibe of the recording sessions. (But don't worry; there are plenty of radio-friendly quintessential Foos on the the CD.)"

The new FOO FIGHTERS album, their seventh and first since 2007, was produced by Butch Vig.

The band has yet to announce a title for the record, which was recorded in Dave Grohl's garage on old-fashioned analog tape.

FOO FIGHTERS have played two secret shows in the last few weeks, one in Santa Barbara and one in Los Angeles, at which the band played the entire new album from start to finish. More surprise gigs are possibly on the way.

The group has confirmed several festival dates both in the U.S. and abroad but has not yet unveiled full tour plans behind the new CD.

So if Rope is the new single, what's with the new clip for White Limo above?

White Limo is definitely a return to the old style of Foo Fighters from the very first album, Watershed in particular. And I quite like it, it rocks!

Interesting that the write up says the album still contains the usual radio-friendly Foo Fighters songs, because I thought Dave Grohl said this was an all out rock album, start to finish?

FOO FIGHTERS: Complete Details Of New BUTCH VIG-Produced Album - Feb. 15, 2011
The title and track listing of FOO FIGHTERS' upcoming seventh full-length studio album has been revealed. "Wasting Light" will be released April 12 by Roswell/RCA and will consist of the following tracks:

01. Bridge Burning
02. Rope
03. Dear Rosemary
04. White Limo
05. Arlandria
06. These Days
07. Back & Forth
08. A Matter Of Time
09. Miss The Misery
10. I Should Have Known
11. Walk

First single "Rope" will be available beginning March 1 both as a digital single and as an instant grat with the iTunes pre-order of "Wasting Light".

Meanwhile, FOO FIGHTERS celebrated Valentine's Day with a gift to their beloved fans: Those valentines who visited (or continue to visit) whitelimo.foofighters.com received a token of affection dedicated to them by Dave Grohl: A kick-ass shot-on-VHS video of "White Limo" starring MOTÖRHEAD's own Lemmy Kilmister as the driver and Grohl (and wife Jordyn), Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear as players in scenarios no doubt familiar to any aficionado of "classic" '80s hard rock videos.

Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, "Wasting Light" was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Grohl's home in California's San Fernando Valley. The no-computers/no-software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band's 15-year-plus career: From first single "Rope" to the frenetic opener "Bridge Burning" to the beautifully bipolar "These Days" to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould ("Dear Rosemary") and Krist Novoselic ("I Should Have Known"), "Wasting Light" is a singular triumph: a band that's headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with a world-class band's finest hour.

Concurrent with the album's release, Exclusive Media Group's documentary division Spitfire Pictures are producing a feature documentary about the FOO FIGHTERS directed by Academy Award winner James Moll ("The Last Days", "Running The Sahara"). Co-produced and co-financed by Exclusive Media Group and RCA Records, Moll 's documentary chronicles the entire history of the FOO FIGHTERS, from the cassette demos Grohl recorded during his tenure as NIRVANA 's drummer through their ascent to their Grammy -winning, multi-platinum, arena and stadium headlining status as one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. This chronicling of the FOO FIGHTERS ' triumphs and tragedies culminates in an in-depth behind the scenes perspective on the making of the new album: A process in which the band pushed itself forward by returning to its roots and recording in Grohl 's garage completely on analog tape.
