Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
The problem with that Axlin is that you insult people then turn around and say its a joke and you don't know why people are taking it seriously. But it doesn't take away from the fact you're insulting them...
The joke you made painted a lot of people on this board (and community at large) that I have a lot of respect for, and I know you do too, as fanboys and shit because they see this band as GNR and love the new music and aren't "that" interested in a reunion, or not as much as some old line up fans are. That's going to get under the crawl of people, especially when those bitter, arrogant slags are put out by a guy who's uaually pretty cool and respectful
We both know that even though they're as annoying as hell, fanboys who lick Axl's ass are really a relatively tiny (but very vocal) piece if the GNR fanbase. You can also say the same about the old line up fans.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Okay, i'm sorry. I thought it was pretty much a known thing around here that I was CD's BIGGEST supporter.
I thought everyone was "in" on the joke.
I'll just shut up from now on. You guys take shit WAY too seriously.
Calling someone a fanboy is practically calling them a Holocaust denyer.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Dude, it's not that. I'm saying what pissed people off the most is that it came from YOU. Like I said, you're usually very cool and respectful. I know you dig CD, but do you also have... negative tendencies sometimes
Seconded
What a bunch of fuckin' poser fanboys.
That wasn't joking. The guys who did that video did nothing wrong. Definitely nothing to deserve that kind of response. They were just new line up fans. This comment kind of carried over from this thread and it didn't sound like you were joking here either.
I'm not bashing you here, man. Just pointing something out.

I remember talking about a reunited GN'R playing the Super Bowl in 2004.
It was a "rumor" then too.
It's all been done before guys.
Yep. :haha::haha:

Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
I just watched a special on VH1 Classic about Pink Floyd. Talked about Live Aid, in which Gilmore was contacted to play for 20 minutes... He said "no". Then they went to Waters, he said "yes", so they called Gilmore back, and before you know it, he caved and did it. That was magic. A couple years later one of the members died. But they did at least have one final show and if they never play again together, they ended on a positive note. I feel like a performance like the Superbowl can put a lot stuff in the past forever and help them all move on with out all this baggage anymore.
Other than my selfish reasons of wanting to see GNR reunite, I think the greater benefit would not be to us, the fans, but to the 5 guys that made all this happen. Adler (he has gone through hell and back and finally gets to end things with the guys on a positive note). Slash (he gets to mend some things with Axl while feeling the glory of playing GNR in a proper setting). Duff and Izzy seem easy going and would love a lot of the drama to subside. Finally Axl, I am not sure what he would take away. Maybe him being able to forgive someone for a short enough time to get to play music and realizing how much petty things can damage a relationship. But for Adler, Slash, and Axl, I feel it would be very theraputic. I may be a dreamer, but I just want what used to be a family, to at least be "friendly" to each other and play a couple tunes.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Some of the posts in here of "i'd rather have CD II than this" or whatever.
You're not Guns N' Roses fans. Flat out. Hand in your GN'R fan club cards, gimme the shirts, etc. And yes I AM THE AUTHORITY on it. De Judge. I'll go to the fuckin' pavement on that.
A GN'R reunion, on any level, destroys in a breeze anything the new band can do, will do, or want to do. Why? Because a new band is absolutely fucking worthless if Axl REFUSES to release material. CD II is a bigger fucking stretch than a reunion. Realize it, accept it, and deal with it. And I say that as a CD fan.
I would rather a reunited GN'R play a one-off show at the Super Bowl, and totally fucking retire never to be seen from again, than to have the fuckin' lame circus that GN'R has been since 1993.
At least a reunion Super Bowl show would restore the band's legacy before the casket is lowered... with some fuckin' dignity... and not having some fucking Cover Band: Version 2.16 running around calling itself Guns N' Roses.
I refuse to believe that us old Gunners are dead. They've got one last "most dangerous band in the world" moment left in them.
I'm a bit behind on this debate but here's my 2 cents. I think the problem with your line of thinking Axlin is that the fans you're calling out don't necessarily think newGNR is better than oldGNR ever was. It's just, that's where we're at right now and that's the most likely chance for progress. At least that's how I feel. I know some will take the stance that Axl doesn't have faith in the current lineup or newer material, therefore he'd be willing to reunite. Honestly, I think at this point he'd call it quits before a reunion. I know everybody loves money, but they've been offered plenty of cash in the past and they've never buckled. So unless his legal fees are piling up to astronomical numbers, I don't see that changing.
IF you could guarantee Slash and Axl could make up and play nice I'm sure a lot of newGNR supporters would come full circle. That just doesn't seem the least bit likely at this point. Therefore people are more interested in the current lineup going forward. Hey, they just finished over a year of touring. They're on a break now and there's no plans in sight so everyone assumes the worst. But we don't know for sure. They could easily reconvene and commence the tour in the spring or summer.
And I'm with misterID in thinking a reunion wouldn't be nearly as big as some are making it out to be. I'd love to be wrong, but unfortunately I don't think we'll ever get the chance to find out.
