Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Whatever. Izzy will be there if it happens. So will Steven.
Still got negativity to bring?
Or shall I start posting Ritz '88 videos next to DJ Ashba solos so we all can have a good fuckin' laugh?
Negativity? More like reality.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
In this ridiculous society we live in, you put Axl in front of a billion people who haven't seen him for 15 years and he will be the laughing stock of the Super Bowl even if he gives a good vocal performance. The people who actually have bothered paying attention already know what he looks like these days, but there are millions upon millions that don't even have a clue. It's not a blip on their radar. But if he is shoved down their throat, you can bet your ass the conversation will quickly turn from "great musical performance" to "wow, he really let himself go over the years." That's the society we live in. So I'm not sure how exactly this would be a dignified situation for him.
Gotta disagree with you on this one my friend. If he shows up with Slash and they put together an OK performance (no glaring errors or out of breath vocal work) he'll get praised like hell. Yeah, a few assholes might bitch about his looks. But this is Axl and Slash back together again. Besides Americans love second acts. Look how much positive press the 1996 Van Halen reunion with Roth garnered (before Eddie pissed it away).
It's actually a pretty good story. Shit, I almost forgot the Steven Adler angle too. There's a lot of stuff there that could generate positive press.

Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
And as for all of those songs above, sure they're "good", but they ain't old Guns nor will they EVER have the relevance, nor will anything Axl does without Slash. Period. Just the way that it is.
My point was Axl is better off focusing on work in the studio instead of embarrassing himself in public playing a bunch of 25 year old songs with his tribute band. Like you said, the songs I listed above are pretty good. They aren't Guns N' Roses songs, they are Axl Rose songs. That's how I have them labeled on my iPod. For a solo project and compared to the other shit that's on the market right now, they are damn good songs. Same goes for Slash's recent solo album. Axl is better off not prancing around 50 pounds overweight singing a bunch of songs he recorded 25 years ago. That is the DIGNIFIED way to approach the rest of his career. Just focus on making more good solo material in the studio and stick to being a hermit. He's pretty good at that one.

Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Setting reality aside...here is my fanboy Super Bowl production:
1. Jungle - Axl uses the f-bomb question, just to piss off the network censors.
2. Patience - nod to the fans for waiting, haha...100,000 lighters in the audience.
3. Sweet Child O' Mine - everyone sings along.
4. Knockin' On Heaven's Door - Axl gets the crowd to do an epic call and response.
5. Paradise City - everyone sings along. Tons of confetti. "Good fuckin' night!"
Now put that in your sunshine pipe and smoke it, Axlin08.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Some of the posts in here of "i'd rather have CD II than this" or whatever.
You're not Guns N' Roses fans. Flat out. Hand in your GN'R fan club cards, gimme the shirts, etc. And yes I AM THE AUTHORITY on it. De Judge. I'll go to the fuckin' pavement on that.
A GN'R reunion, on any level, destroys in a breeze anything the new band can do, will do, or want to do. Why? Because a new band is absolutely fucking worthless if Axl REFUSES to release material. CD II is a bigger fucking stretch than a reunion. Realize it, accept it, and deal with it. And I say that as a CD fan.
I would rather a reunited GN'R play a one-off show at the Super Bowl, and totally fucking retire never to be seen from again, than to have the fuckin' lame circus that GN'R has been since 1993.
At least a reunion Super Bowl show would restore the band's legacy before the casket is lowered... with some fuckin' dignity... and not having some fucking Cover Band: Version 2.16 running around calling itself Guns N' Roses.
I refuse to believe that us old Gunners are dead. They've got one last "most dangerous band in the world" moment left in them.

Nice post jarmo.
We're back to distinguishing who "real" GNR fans are again.
When rumors like this happen we go through a long stretch of the same 5 guys saying the same shit, trashing everything about the new line up, saying who's not real fans, a reunion is bound to happen, a reunion will return them to glory bullshit, the same five guys who keep saying the new band is done, a reunion is imminent, CD will never come out... Then GNR goes on tour, drops an album and you guys get all bitchy because your predictions didn't happen. Please.
If you, and the five other guys who agree, think that only you're real GNR fans have fun in your sand box.
I have no idea why you're wasting your time here with this "cover band."
I refuse to believe that us old Gunners are dead. They've got one last "most dangerous band in the world" moment left in them.
That would equal Axl doing what Axl is doing now, but now Slash leaves the band because Axl doesn't go on stage on time. Real dangerous.

Except he destroyed his own legacy and legend by pussyfootin' around with an "in and out" attitude towards reinventing Guns and cutting new records with a new band.
All he did in the process was classify himself into a premature cover artist reliving the glory days. He's still too young for that. He's got plenty of time to be John Fogerty years from now. He didn't have to do it at fuckin' 40.

I would rather see a GN'R "Queen" Live Aid moment where they cram as many of their hits into a performance as they can without losing an ounce of energy.

Nice post jarmo.
Oh, hardy har har. I'm fuckin' Jarmo, because I call it LIKE IT IS? What fuckin' dream world do you nutswingers live in? The one where Axl performs the Super Bowl with DJ fuckin' Ashba and everybody sings along to TWAT?
Are you nuts?
THAT is what a "Jarmo" would believe. So watch it before you start throwin' that fuckin' sell out's name around me brother.
We're back to distinguishing who "real" GNR fans are again.
If the fanboys weren't so goddamn dumb, we wouldn't have to. But don't worry, I do it out of love.

5 guys? Try 50 million world fuckin' wide baby. The reason no one pays attention to your precious new band, is the fact that NOBODY CARES. Speakin' of "5 guys", take your new band interest and multiply it by 5 for ANYTHING involving Axl & Slash, including a one-off hits performance.
It'll destroy anything the new band has done in all of those years combined in terms of quality, media interest, FAN interest, rock interest, watercooler talk, the band members feeling good about themselves, MONEY, industry interest, etc.
I could go on, but I don't wanna fry your brain on these complex "big boy" discussions too much.

Five guys... what a fuckin' lightweight. You must've been born in 1998. The world, mainly rock fans LOVE Guns N' Roses, still do, always will... except they've missed the fuckin' hell out of them since 1993.
Us "five guys" are the only guys that actually give a shit about the fuckin' dumbasses running around thinking Catcher In The Rye is better than My Michelle.
The rest of the world just said, "call us when you're ready to be SERIOUS and reunite"
Just like Irving Azoff, Ticketmaster, Live Nation and anybody who gives a shit about Guns N' Roses and making money.
Once again, if Axl's SO serious and SO over and SO better than old Guns, I fuckin' dare you to go out and talk Chinese Democracy on the street.
When you're fuckin' laughed at, don't say I didn't warn you.
That would equal Axl doing what Axl is doing now, but now Slash leaves the band because Axl doesn't go on stage on time. Real dangerous.
Axl isn't doing anything right now other than touring solo and performing AFD and half of his solo album.
Wow, i'm so impressed. And yet Slash is the sellout...
And by the way, I didn't WASTE my time with this "cover band". I can honestly tell you I haven't listened to virtually anything 'live' from the new band since 2002. I saw two shows and a few boots in 2006, and I saw two boots in 2010.
Wow, so much of my life tied up with fake Guns N' Roses. Were they good? Ab-so-lutely. Were they Guns N' Roses? Ab-so-lutely NOT.

Time for me to bust out a sacrilegious post.
But to put it in context...I will say that AFD, LIES and UYI changed my damn life growing up, and I hold them and the old band in tremendous respect.
But that said, I've been wondering for a while...what *exactly* makes those songs much better than some of the newer stuff (ie new guns/snakepit/vr/slash) other than that we heard them all those years ago - and - that they feature the talents of many ex-members at once.
I think My Michelle is a kickass example, love that song so much, but then lets look at the parts in isolation. Is Slash's guitar part really all that much stronger than the type of part he wrote for "By the Sword"? Is patience really all that much more evolved on guitar than "Back from Cali" or "Starlight". Then look at some of Axl's numbers. Forget the guitar parts - if you just think the vocal peformance, words and melodies....is Breakdown much better than Catcher? Why is November Rain or Sweetchild really superior to There was a Time.
Don't get me wrong, I love the old music so much. But i've started to think recently we hold it to an impossible standard and with an artifical revrence. I think many of the parts of the guys "solo/non-gnr" albums are basicly just as good as what they used to do, but these days they play them with different other people adding the other bits differenty.

No, not like it is, you're calling it the way YOU happen to see it and applying it as THE final word. Childish. Sophmoric. Ridiculous. Delusional. Lame. Sanctamounious. Rude. Disrespectful. Full of yourself. Yep... jarmo.
And yeah, thanks for calling me nutswinger again. Something you always revert to when you start making posts like this. And you know your argument is monumentally weak when you have to apply an analogy like "me" wanting DJ to crank out TWAT while GNR plays the Superbowl while the world sings along... Um, none of that applies to me. At all.
And I'm not the one saying anything about GNR having a huge comeback at the superbowl and tens of millions of people clammering for them. That's your dream world, not mine.
Not only will the old band (more than likely, to be fair) never reunite, but if they do, it won't be as big of a deal as you're dreaming it would be.
If the fanboys weren't so goddamn dumb, we wouldn't have to. But don't worry, I do it out of love.
I'm seeing a lot of dumb fanboy posts coming from people on your side of the isle recently. All five of you.
5 guys? Try 50 million world fuckin' wide baby.

I'd be fine with no one caring, to be honest with you. Don't matter to me. But it is funny that people care enough to still write articles about the new band and the forums SPIKE in traffic when a rumor of a tour or new song leaking starts. Hmmm.
I've never said a reunion wouldn't bring in big numbers. It would. But nothing like what you guys are thinking. Again, imho, everything Slash and Duff has done outside GNR is weak and boring. I don't see, for myself, measuring by what they've been churning out, that they could bring anything interesting to an album with Axl that would appeal to me. I'm willing to be surprised.
I love what Axl and the new band have done, music-wise. To me, CD is better than everything the former members have done combined since the first Snakepit album.
I really have no idea why money, media interest and watercooler talk means so much to you.
Five guys... what a fuckin' lightweight. You must've been born in 1998. The world, mainly rock fans LOVE Guns N' Roses, still do, always will... except they've missed the fuckin' hell out of them since 1993.

Again, none of that matters to me... I like the music, not by how much money they make or what someone on the street thinks.

Have I called Slash a sell out? Or are you making things up to help hold up your weak argument and totally sidestep my remark?
