Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
I refuse to believe that us old Gunners are dead. They've got one last "most dangerous band in the world" moment left in them.
Because nothing says danger quite like this:
Face it, Axl is a fuckin' joke and will continue to be one regardless of whether he decides to have some reunion with his former bandmates. His dignity went out the door long ago. Same goes for Slash and his bullshit appearances to play November Rain and Sweet Child O' Mine with the likes of Jamie Foxx and Black Eyed Peas. Both of them are total jokes at this point IMHO. The dignified thing would be if both stopped playing GN'R songs altogether and moved on with their lives. Axl would be better off sitting on his fat ass in his mansion focusing solely on making more Use Your Illusion/Chinese Democracy style epics in the recording studio instead of embarrassing himself on stage with his appearance while playing a bunch of 25 year old songs.

Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Some of the posts in here of "i'd rather have CD II than this" or whatever.
You're not Guns N' Roses fans. Flat out. Hand in your GN'R fan club cards, gimme the shirts, etc. And yes I AM THE AUTHORITY on it. De Judge. I'll go to the fuckin' pavement on that.
A GN'R reunion, on any level, destroys in a breeze anything the new band can do, will do, or want to do. Why? Because a new band is absolutely fucking worthless if Axl REFUSES to release material. CD II is a bigger fucking stretch than a reunion. Realize it, accept it, and deal with it. And I say that as a CD fan.
I would rather a reunited GN'R play a one-off show at the Super Bowl, and totally fucking retire never to be seen from again, than to have the fuckin' lame circus that GN'R has been since 1993.
At least a reunion Super Bowl show would restore the band's legacy before the casket is lowered... with some fuckin' dignity... and not having some fucking Cover Band: Version 2.16 running around calling itself Guns N' Roses.
I refuse to believe that us old Gunners are dead. They've got one last "most dangerous band in the world" moment left in them.
Total ownage, the truth has been spoken. Give us back the biggest band in the world... U2, Bon Jovi, Def Leopard, Motley Crue, Metallica... Ger ready to play 2nd fiddle again if and when Axl decides to go all in with the old band. How bad ass would it be if each member rose up from under the stage ala Slash with the smoke and shit from the super bowl. BEP sucked, but loved how the brought Slash in and yes, he is still badass. Still unsure about them playing with it being so cold out.

Bullshit man, bullshit.
Axl still hasn't done Celebrity Apprentice.
All he'll have to do is kick off with Jungle, and with Slash on guitar and everyone will fuckin' freak out.
And by the way, his UYI/CD new songs will never mean a GD thing to world without Slash playing guitar on them.
So yeah, I agree with you. I would LOVE for Guns N' Roses to "move on" from 25 years ago with new material with Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, etc.

Disagree.
Axl's always been a guy you could poke fun at if you wanted to, even back int he day, some people will make redhead kokes, and the bike pants and all that, the huge video clips - but at the end of the day he has the musical chops and stage presence to back his shit up.
Sure some people will have a go at him for being a little heavier or whatever, and I dont think his rep for latestarts and trouble would vanish, but he's also still got that scream, and his musical gift of arrangment and so on is still around.
To me the joke is that each one of these fuckers is so talented that they can get away with what they have. Axl can play with anyone and call it GNR and still put out a good album. Slash can have anyone sing up front and it's going to be a good old school rock show. (That's not ment to be insulting to the 'anyones' - i love guys like Myles and Bumble in their own right too).
I have zero expectation of it ever happening.
But should Slash and Axl ever sort their shit out, I have ZERO doubt that it would hand the rock world it's ass. Axl still has his attitude, Slash still has his chops. Alone they are powerful, together they destroy. You might laugh going in, but you wouldn't be laughing post the show.

Next year's Super Bowl will be played in Indinapolis in a domed indoor stadium. The one after that will be played in NY. That one is outdoors.
The fan in me wants them to play a longer set than the 15 minutes or so that they usually give the Super Bowl halftime gig. Although I would find it ironic that they would play a reunion gig in Indinapolis of all places.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Almost like coming full circle. The King of Indiana would be BACK.

^^
Thank you. Even a diehard new GN'R fan "gets it".
Guys why are we ALL here? Guns N' Fuckin' Roses, and they will ALWAYS been 87-93.
All of these guys still are amazing, if they could pool themselves together and get their shit together, I have no doubt they would stop time at least for a few minutes.

Slash played on There Was A Time, Prostitute, Sorry, and If The World? Interesting development.
Axl has already proven that he can pull off effective epics without Slash. The problem for him is the rockers. Most of them sucked on Chinese Democracy.
In this ridiculous society we live in, you put Axl in front of a billion people who haven't seen him for 15 years and he will be the laughing stock of the Super Bowl even if he gives a good vocal performance. The people who actually have bothered paying attention already know what he looks like these days, but there are millions upon millions that don't even have a clue. It's not a blip on their radar. But if he is shoved down their throat, you can bet your ass the conversation will quickly turn from "great musical performance" to "wow, he really let himself go over the years." That's the society we live in. So I'm not sure how exactly this would be a dignified situation for him.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
You're crazy man. People gave mad props to McCartney, The Who, U2, Stones, Springsteen.... Guns N' Roses would be no different.
He would not be a laughing stock man. It's just not gonna happen.
And as for all of those songs above, sure they're "good", but they ain't old Guns nor will they EVER have the relevance, nor will anything Axl does without Slash. Period. Just the way that it is.
A reunited Guns N' Roses could record a cover of Rock N' Roll Train, and people would cum all over it.

'85 to '91. Guns N' Roses ceased to exist when Izzy Stradlin quit, regardless of what Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan were trying to pawn off to audiences as GN'R during the rest of the UYI Tour.
