I'd rather see the current line up to be honest instead of the old crew getting together with the hatred there n all.

I'd always imagine them doing a huge festival if the old group wanted to do a one off.  It just made more sense.  The Super Bowl halftime show is about publicity and pushing your brand.

The New GNR brand in the US is not very popular.  Most still associate GNR (casual music fans) as the classic AFD lineup.

If there is zero intention of burying the hatchet between Axl and Slash (and that is what we are talking about here), they should just continue what they are currently doing now anyway.  Less stress involved for all participants.  Axl releases music every several years and Slash works with a whole bunch of people and does VR.

If the Superbowl they want them to play is in new york, they should't say no, but FUCK NO.. Why?  It will be probably 20 degrees.  Does anyone know how hard it would be to play guitar with frozen finger that can't move fast and you can't feel?  Or to sing when you are freezing your balls off?  If it were in a dome at 70 degrees where your guitar won't go out of tune and your voice won't crack.  Hell yeah.

It would be good to do this and the Rock N Roll HOF.  The Superbowl doesn't want the current line up... Its classic lineup or nothing.

and Slash saying Axl would need to apologize.

Not to be a dick...but that's not what he said, it's just how they're reporting it. He was asked what he would do IF axl called and appoligised....and his coments also imply he realises he'd have to drop part of his own attitude.

"That would be a call I would be surprised to get," Slash told the Los Angeles Daily recently. "If that really happened, I would have to clean out my junk drawer, too, but I don't see it happening. But if it did happen, I would do whatever it takes to at least have a conversation about it."

i think this thread influenced a dream i had, in which i was halfway asleep listening to the news and one of the stories was that Izzy had died of an overdose, in my dream i woke up crying knowing id never see the real guns n roses live.  was really messed up, wonder what it means?

If that's true and Axl can't suck it up for 15 minutes, a reunion may never happen.

I doubt it's true. For one thing, Super Bowl halftime performers aren't paid -- or haven't been in the past. Maybe they would make a special exception. But for another thing, Pink Floyd was offered $250 million for a world tour after Live 8 a few years ago. Floyd has had a bigger impact than GN'R and is actually more relevant right now than GN'R. Hard to imagine that 15 minutes of GN'R could get a similar dollar amount to a world tour of Floyd. People just make up bullshit rumors for the hell of it IMHO. 14

Well, I wish nothing but good health on all the GNR members past and present, but I sometimes also wonder how amazing it is that a reunion is still even possible in 2011. I mean go back to 1988 and ask yourself if you thought they'd be kicking it in thier solo bands or if...duff would have drunk himself to death...slash flatlined one too many times, Izzy loose his mind from junk, steve become god knows what, and Axl swallowed a shot gun one night in a depressive phase. I thank god or whatever that those things did not come to pass...that they've progressed, given us their music and seem to be happy now, but that's really how it looked like their personalities were heading at one stage.

So yeah I understand what you mean.

At the risk of being morbid too - I wonder if this is the window where they can do stuff too. I mean how long does any of us get on the planet before health issues catch up - and guys like Slash and Duff have got clean now thank god - but they must have been buring the candle at both ends so long that I do worry what their older age will be like. Hopefully that's just me being anxious and they're able to rock on ala Ac/Dc.

Some of the posts in here of "i'd rather have CD II than this" or whatever.

You're not Guns N' Roses fans. Flat out. Hand in your GN'R fan club cards, gimme the shirts, etc. And yes I AM THE AUTHORITY on it. De Judge. I'll go to the fuckin' pavement on that.

A GN'R reunion, on any level, destroys in a breeze anything the new band can do, will do, or want to do. Why? Because a new band is absolutely fucking worthless if Axl REFUSES to release material. CD II is a bigger fucking stretch than a reunion. Realize it, accept it, and deal with it. And I say that as a CD fan.

I would rather a reunited GN'R play a one-off show at the Super Bowl, and totally fucking retire never to be seen from again, than to have the fuckin' lame circus that GN'R has been since 1993.

At least a reunion Super Bowl show would restore the band's legacy before the casket is lowered... with some fuckin' dignity... and not having some fucking Cover Band: Version 2.16 running around calling itself Guns N' Roses.

I refuse to believe that us old Gunners are dead. They've got one last "most dangerous band in the world" moment left in them.
