Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Looking forward to it. Seeing Izzy sing Dust N Bones and 14 Years and Duff busting out Attitude or So Fine while Axl eats nachos in Malibu would be a great halftime performance. Doubt the NFL would be as excited as me about the prospect though.

I doubt they'd even sound that good. SB halftime is not a good gig and those guys certainly hate each other too much to rehearse. It won't happen and absent of a serious, full on reunion I don't even think it's a good idea.
Save a one-off for a HOF induction or just forget it.

Rather spend months enjoying a Chinese Democracy follow up than a 5 minute pleasure time watching the fucking Superbowl. Damn easy choice.
I'll take whatever gets us the most quantity/quality. If one didn't interfere with the other, I'd certainly take them both. But I think it's clear where Axl stands on this, so I don't think we'll have to worry about it. I just hope we're not headed for a long silent period.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
I think it's obvious that the NFL is going back to the geezer rock template after the Black Eyed Peas failed miserably this year. I'm not buying the GNR stuff because if they perform there they almost have to launch a reunion tour. No sense in going half way and not capitalize on the entire money train (ie full scale reunion).
I'm skeptical because this has only come from one source--kensterling.com--and those things have a way of spreading. Anyone hear about that Jon Gruden to Phily rumor that spread like wildfire after the Super Bowl? That rumor was started by an ex-Eagles player and mostly everyone assumed that to be the truth. The Eagles quashed it the next day. If it comes from another reliable source I'd take this more seriously.
The NFL usually announces the Super Bowl halftime acts in the fall (October I think) so we should know quickly whether or not it is true.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Isn't GNR eligible for the Rock and Roll HOF next year? When does that take place? It would all fit together nicely if they could reunite for that AND the Super Bowl, maybe a little tour to go along, then they can go their separate ways if they'd like.
BUT, I wouldn't count on ANY of that.

I'd rather see the current line up to be honest instead of the old crew getting together with the hatred there n all.

I agree. I'd only want to see a reunion if they could all make peace. I can't see that happening with what Axl has said about Slash recently and Slash saying Axl would need to apologize. I just can't see any of that happening.
BUT, if they could somehow come to some sort of an agreement, I'd be all for it and then some. Until that happens though, long live new GNR!

There is if they're doing it more for the chemestry they used to get together than for the money.
Also...realisticly...I think given the issues involved....a one off show might be the safest thing for them to get away with it.
A full tour requires people to tollerate each other for a lot more, increases the risk of Axl comming late or something, is a LOT for Izzy to agree to comitt to, increases the odds of Slash or Steven having a relapse during that time. Insurance wise...a tour is way more dangerous than a one off show. A one of show - well anyone in the band can put up with another's bullshit for a few hours.
Personally I'd prefer working on a new EP or something rather than a tour or show, cos as kickass as the show would be...it's a fleeting moment in time and recorded music would give us somethign to keep.
But it all sounds very unlikely anyway I must say.
For the record...if this does happen...and they did it without steven....that would be so evil. Steven has to be the drummer to atone for the past. For him for being a junkie, and for them for moving on without him - which they had to do - but which detroyed him more.
