Guns N' Roses' original line-up to reunite for Super Bowl?
Talks are supposedly underway...
February 11, 2011
Talks about playing next year’s Super Bowl half time show with their original line-up are apparently underway.
Singer Axl Rose refuted speculation this week (February 8) that he would agree to any kind of reunion with his former bandmates. But despite this US sports blogger Kent Sterling claims that a source has given information that talks are ongoing.
According to the report, “Preliminary talks have already taken place to reconvene the most popular line up of " for the event next year.
However, the blogger acknowledged that discussions are in "very early stages" and that it "may turn into nothing".
If the reunion were to happen it would be the first time the line-up that recorded the band’s acclaimed 1987 debut album 'Appetite For Destruction' had played live together since 1990, the year drummer Steven Adler was sacked.
Guitarist Slash recently said he'd be up for talking to Rose about a reunion – but only if the singer apologised to him. The pair are not thought to have spoken since Slash left the band in 1996.
The Black Eyed Peas played the Super Bowl half-time show this year.

“Original” Guns N’ Roses in Talks for Next Year’s Super Bowl Halftime
Written on February 10, 2011 by kentsterling36
Kentsterling.com has been told that preliminary talks have already taken place to reconvene the most popular lineup of Guns N’ Roses to turn Indianapolis into Paradise City. Gun N’ Roses might be the only rock band with it’s members still living that hasn’t played a Super Bowl halftime show that could generate a real sense of excitement for what this year became a devolving mess.
After a significantly lesser halftime show this year with the overexposed Black Eyed Peas with Usher (who had to cancel a bar mitzvah appearance) and Slash from GNR, the NFL is looking to make a splash, and reuniting Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, either Steven Adler or Matt Sorum, and Dizzy Reed.
Nothing like a 30-minute trip to the fridge for another beer or three, knowing that you won’t miss anything relevant. Oh, how those ad agencies must have thrilled to the news that the Black Eyed Peas were willing to take the time away from their endless tour of talk and award show appearances to sing “I Gotta Feeling” for the 724th time on network television in the last 16 months. They could have gotten the same audience and performance for the cost of an Oprah show :30.
The halftime show of the Super Bowl tried to top itself each year with spectaculars until Justin Timberlake unsheathed Janet Jackson right teat and America overreacted like the crowd had been napalmed. Since then, it’s been rock backs and icons – until this year when evidently the B-52s were unavailable.
The Beatles – half dead, and McCartney did it. U2 – did it. The Clash – Joe Strummer dead. The Police – terrible reunion tour. All southern rock bands – mostly dead. Nirvana – one-third dead, one third in the Foo Fighters, one third MIA. Pearl Jam – too niche. Phish – way too niche, plus football on shrooms is no fun to watch. That leaves Justin Bieber and GNR, and if Bieber ever performs at a Super Bowl, I hope I’m there to take a bullet to stop the show.
Hopefully, Axl (the Indiana native) is on his meds, and agrees to do the show. It’s always a shame when a great band lets squabbles put a premature end to their creativity and ability to thrill an audience. GNR is long past its creative peak, but for 12-minutes, I would sit still in front of a TV to watch them rock.
Talks are still in the very early stages, and it may turn into nothing, but it’s good to know that at least someone is thinking clearly at the NFL.

dunno how the axl tweet refers 2 this??
(re: the twit's tweet - he mentioned 'prior engagements' & that it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what those were & not to twist that into meaning a reunion?? now i am a rocket scientist & i haven't a clue what those prior engagements were!)
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
Steven's last show was in Indy. It's an intriguing idea, but I don't see Axl ever agreeing to this with the old band. I would think if he is contacted he would try to negotiate to get the current band the bill. With a possible drop-in from Duff and/or Izzy.
Slash and Axl sharing the same stage doesn't seem likely at this point.
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
theoretically how much would axl alone pocket from those 12mins??
i know p much f' all about it except it's crazy no expense spared american razzmatazz (how come nobody uses that word anymore?!) so i imagined he could earn more in those 12mins than he maybe has in all the years since UYI tour ended?

4 Websites are reporting this.... This sounds to be more than just a "rumor" some idiot made up.. Someone put this rumor out there to test the waters....
Re: *RUMOR* Possible GnR one-off reunion for Superbowl XLVI?
The rumor may have some legs to it, but that certainly doesn't mean it's going to happen. First, I think it would be a HUGE risk for the Super Bowl organizers to try and pull this off. I mean, even if they get all parties to agree (highly unlikely) there's always the chance that someone (Axl) would back out at the last minute or show up late or something. I realize they would probably cover all this in the contract and everything so it probably wouldn't be an issue. But never understimate this band.
And I just can't see it happening. At least not right now. It's way too early to even get your hopes up. Check back in October or so and see where we're at.
