STEVEN TYLER Interviewed On 'Late Show With David Letterman' (Video) - Jan. 18, 2011
AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler was a guest on last night's (Monday, January 17) edition of CBS-TV's "Late Show With David Letterman". You can now watch video footage of his appearance below.

During a recent interview with FOX40's Bethany Crouch, Tyler was asked if the experience of being a judge on "American Idol" so far has been everything that he expected prior to taking on the gig. "No. It's actually more," he replied. "I thought that most people have to go to clubs and be on tour for 40 years, but it's a different world now and there's not even clubs for kids to play in. I mean, there are — there's ways to grow up like that. But I've been very surprised with... And look, some ['Idol' hopefuls] are 14 and feel entitled and can't sing at all. And some are 14 and blew me away. I could not believe what I heard. And keep in mind, you're looking at a guy that never watched the show; I was on tour. They pulled me off tour to do the show. I've, serious, been on tour for 40 years, so I didn't watch this. Either that or I was off doing some other wild things, you know what I'm saying?!"

Tyler's move to "Idol" stunned his bandmates in AEROSMITH, who nearly split with the singer in 2009 but regrouped for a tour last summer. Tyler says he can juggle both.

AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer said in a recent interview he expects to see a new album from the band "within a year," adding, "My brothers and I are destined to make another record in the next year or so." He said that the album will be "an old-school AEROSMITH record. We're going to do it the old way with the whole band (in the same room) and it should be a good one. We're all anticipating." Kramer said that the band will begin recording over the winter and work around frontman Tyler's schedule on "Idol".

AEROSMITH Working On New Material Without Guitarist JOE PERRY - Jan. 27, 2011
According to Billboard.com, AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler, guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer have been working since last Saturday (January 22) with the band's longtime collaborator Marti Frederiksen on material for a new album at Marti's Monrovia, California studio. Guitarist Joe Perry was unable to attend the sessions due to an unspecified commitment, according to Frederiksen.

"It's been really good, great," Frederiksen tells Billboard.com. "We've been playing songs, putting together riffs, having fun, laughing and working from noon to 11 (p.m.) We're just digging in, man."

AEROSMITH's forthcoming CD will be the group's first since "Honkin' on Bobo" in 2004, and first of all new material since "Just Push Play" in 2011.

They're talking about going back and doing a 70's-era album. If they stay true to that, it could be pretty cool.

I think they've squeezed all of the melodic-rock ballads out of their brains that they can. 16

The Stern Show is available on Smart Phones now through the Sirius/XM app.  If you're so inclined.  His interviews will go on for as long as the guest is entertaining.  And Steven is nothing short of entertaining.

Steven did tell Howard that American Idol only took up 4 months of his time, when Aerosmith would be on downtime anyway and that they'd be right back at it.  He said they had dates already lined up for later in the year and that they'd be even more popular because of the exposure he'll get from being a judge on that crappy show.  He also spoke quite freely about Joe, with plenty of harsh words for him.  I mean, nothing too bad, but he didn't sugar coat anything.

God I hope so.  I've been waiting for them to just go back to a rock album with dirty sleazy riffs instead of whatever they've been doing for the last ten years.  I should go and download the Permanent Vacations outakes as those are reportedly sound like "old Aerosmith."

It was cool in the 80's. I gotta admit, Angel is one of my favorite songs of their's. By the early 90's it was tired... we get it...

When Don't Wanna Miss A Thing came out, I was like "cool song", but at the same exact time, it's like it subconsciously caused me to not buy ANYTHING Aerosmith did after it.

Weirdness. Hopefully they'll do something cool. I always thought their debut was a fuckin' monster. 9
