Re: GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist BUMBLEFOOT Says He's Been 'Impatiently Waiting
they are all hanging on hoping to get Axl to sing on some of their submitted music. None of them have been on million selling albums before so the royalty and publishing check will be bigger than anything they've had before.
This.
Paul Huge won big when the album was released.

Nowadays I don't think the boss of GNR cares for his bandmates that much and vica versa. Axl is still where the money's at so they talk him up, defend him, defend themselves etc. When that money no longer looks like its coming and the tour cash has dried up, some will move on.
Bumble is highly unusual in that he continues to talk to the fans and be honest about his feelings. Props to him for that. The others all sound like politicians, trying to say nothing while saying something for fear of pissing off the boss. You must have noted the near total radio silence from all the other alumni in recent times following their botched 'honest opinion' interviews.
Only new guitar boy is the other one doing any talking (I'm sitting here and can't remember his name - shit, what does that say about me and GNR these days..?). He just talks the usual harmless, purile toss about having 'great ideas' and that the band have 'things up their sleeves'; all the same tired old junk that we've had for a decade.
Personally I think he's just pushing his products and brands for as long as he can and hounding Axl to sing over his compositions for the royalties.
If we don't get CD II this year, my prediction is that the band will decend yet another level, with hired hands playing what hired hands played three years before that. Dilution is not a situation Axl seems to care about.
This band's legacy in the media is now down to one album . It should be like U2's, not like the Spin Doctors!!
I'm not so sure about all that. I mean, I guess you can say it seems as if Axl does his own thing and the rest of the guys just put up with him for the paycheck. I guess that's possible, but that's just pure speculation. It's obvious all parties involved wished things happened differently in the past, present, and future. But at this point, we all know the score, and this is just the way it's gonna be. Whoever you choose to blame for things being the way they are, so be it. But it's not changing anytime soon, and I don't think anyone expects it to either.
If THIS lineup somehow starts breaking apart, I can't see how GNR could soldier on with MORE replacements. I mean, what would be the point? Now that "Chinese Democracy" has been released, there's really no reason to push forward with "new" material with 3rd hand replacements. I know it sounds like it'd be just right up their alley, but I just don't see it. I'd see Axl trying to lure some old faces back into the fold over auditioning guys again.

Re: GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist BUMBLEFOOT Says He's Been 'Impatiently Waiting
Nobody would work like this unless the money was good or in some cases better than no money at all (which could be the case for Dizzy).
Axl could bring out CD II and have a bunch of music college kids play it for him live if that's what he wanted. Once he fulfilled his legal obligations to the song writers like Finck he can pretty much do what the fuck he likes with the GNR lineup.
From what I've seen Axl is comfortable changing staff forever, its his thing. managers, band members, touring staff...its gone on for decades now. As long as he gets paid he seems happy to be out there telling everybody its GNR.
He does not see the AFD band as the reason the vast majority of concert goers are still around. I firmly believe he thinks they come mostly to see him and could not care less about the others, past or present. Why else would you bring Izzy and Duff on? Only if you couldn't give a shit about how weird that must be for their replacement also on stage with them and that you don't see those people as that important to the brand anyway.
Re: GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist BUMBLEFOOT Says He's Been 'Impatiently Waiting
In some cases, aren't they already beyond 3rd hand replacements? It gets so hard to follow...
You could be right. We need to make a GNR family tree so we can trace back the lineage. I don't really count Ole Beich, Rob Gardner and the likes, it all really begins with the AFD lineup. So they've had 4 drummers (Steven, Matt, Brain, Frank), 4 rhythm guitarists (Izzy, Gilby, Paul, Richard), 2 bassists. Then Slash was in essence replaced by 2 guys, who in turn were replaced by another 2 guys. Did I miss anyone?
Intercourse - I disagree with you about Axl's outlook on GNR. I think he clearly knows that people only look at the AFD/UYI lineup as real GNR. He's doing his best to keep the train going and keep the money flowing in with replacements as he couldn't find peace in working with other members. People let him know each and every day that they don't consider this current lineup to be GNR. The reason he's brought Izzy and Duff onstage, I view that as something to appease the hardcore fans. Not as a slight to the current members. Ron and Tommy are friends with Duff, and spoke about how cool it was when he joined them. They all seemed to enjoy having Izzy play with them too. Axl explained that he could see himself playing with one former member at a time, but never more than one, so I don't see it as a slight at all. It'd be one thing if the other four AFD members showed up one night and Axl told the current lineup to take the night off, but that's not happening anytime soon.

josh freese
dunno if you wanna count chris vrenna and the like
That's true, I was just thinking of guys who performed live with the band. I don't think Josh ever did, did he? But obviously he was a pretty large part in getting the Chinese Democracy ball rolling in the beginning.
Re: GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist BUMBLEFOOT Says He's Been 'Impatiently Waiting
In the end, Josh was more of a writer...sort of like West Arkeen in a way....NEVER PLAYED LIVE.
To me, you have to actually play on a record and play live...both. DJ in my opinion is just a fill in live guitarist at this point. Bumble Richard and Frank at least contributed parts to the album....no writing credits but they play some parts...I think (so much shit buried in the mix it's hard to tell at times!):haha:
